If you have a little mechanical skill you can replace this yourself. My original one sprung a pinhole leak at the seam, so it had to be replaced. I also had to replace the tubing from the freezer to the valve. It was a little hard to plug in the electrical connection, but that was not a serious problem. Make sure you seat the tubing fully when connecting. Now everything works and no leaks. Don't forget to unplug the electricity when replacing this valve.

Stupid GE refrigerator water valve went bad after 12 years. OK no ice but does the low water flow from the valve have to cause the water tube that fills the trays to freeze and then water starts to splill on the floor everytime the Ice Maker calls for water? Then it leaks through the floor into the basement ceiling and ruins 20.00 worth of roofing tile? Too much to ask that they add a water sensor that senses the tube is clogged? It has a damn uprocessor in the machine! Anyway, I shift tangent, the shipper shipped this lightning fast. Changed out the old with the new. Direct replacement (even better than the old one, it has been improved) damn coke head (pepsi too) wife has , again, have a undepletable cache of freshly made ice... How the hell do people drink so much cola? Good deal...ThanksRead full review

Had an issue with water taking time to dispense, like air being introduced. After a week, figured out there was a small leak that caused the problem and dropped the water pressure over time so it delayed the water for a second or two. Replaced the valve and all problems went away, aside from the small water damage on my baseboard from the week long leak. This is an easy fix and "push to disconnect" white connectors make life easy. Was just like the original valve GE installed.

This is a very low cost valve assembly and easy to replace. The water lines and electrical connectors matched exactly like the original. The new solenoid valve assembly looks, installs and works exactly like the original 5 year old defective valve. The original valve started leaking through one of the stem seals after 5 years of service so the new valve quality is based on how the original performed. I expect this one will fail at around 5 years of service. Recommend replacement every 5 years to be proactive to keep leaking water from destroying the floor.

The part looks just like the original. I installed it in 5 minutes with a power screwdriver. I did trim the water lines to make them flat and smooth. They plugged in perfectly. Refrigerator water lines are not leaking and water stream is better than ever. Now I look like a hero because my wife thought we needed to replace the refrigerator. That alone is worth the part!
