Description
Rare Mid Century
French School Poster
From the Vidal-Lablache series of maps: a striking oversized map of North Amercia on a thin and flexible cardboard.
Will carry an entire wall or room.
Lovely pastel colors behind details on the topography, economic activity, and the major cities.
France is shown in scale on the bottom left corner and it is amazing how small it is compared to the US or Canada.
The flipside is the same territory "muted" or with no text used for test time.
Bonus! Has ancient chalk marks from an old school lesson. French text is written on the muted side. See photos. Keep the marks for the charm or you can very easily erase with a regular pencil eraser.
These are highly prized in France and sell for several hundred dollars in boutiques on both sides of the Atlantic. Highly collectible.
In very good shape for its age and purpose. No tears and in very solid shape. Unusually all the finish tape around the edges is in perfect shape. Normal (light) signs of aging. Some yellowing of the paper towards the top of the map, looks fine if you like an aged patina. Please look over the pictures carefully so you're happy with your purchase when it arrives.
Has two gammuts for hanging so you can save a lot of money by not having it framed...or save your pennies for a frame and still display it in the interim.
