I was a bit leary of the shape of the handle, but it turned out to be fantastic to use - much more balanced in the way it handles from one of the stick varieties of rotary cutters. At first I kept hitting the release button on the side, which locks the blade, but once I found my groove I was good with it. I would buy this type of rotary cutting tool again.

Orginally, I was satisfied with these rotary cutters, unfortunately that didn't last long. Once I began using these, I realized how dangerous the placement for the release button is. I would be cutting and out of nowhere the blade would snap into the safety position. I cut out only 2 patterns out of thin PUL material before the blade began skipping. Annoying, but easy fix. Order new blades. So, I did that and dealt with the skipped stitches until they came. I then went to change the blade. What a nightmare. It sounds easy. Take of but, pop out safety guard, remove blade and replace with new, put it all back together. Well, we removed the nut and pulled and tried to remove the safety guard to no avail. Nothing we did worked. So, my dh tapped the bolt out and finally got the guard out enough to get a good grip. He got it out, finally. But, he also got two sliced fingers. Upon removal, we realized that the inner bolt had came loose and twisted so it didn't line up correctly which made it near impossible to remove. So, we epoxied the bolt into the correct position, put on the new blade (not another fiskars) and replaced the finger bolt. I start cutting and it's going great. Then, the blade pops into it safety position. I think that I bumped the button so I try again taking care to be clear of the button. But, it happens again. And, again. And, again. I can no longer apply pressure without the blade retracting. So now, when I cut I have to hold the slider button in the out position, otherwise the blade retraces and I can't cut. I haven't even had this a month and haven't even made it through 3 yards of fabric. Very dissatisfiedRead full review

I am very pleased with my new Fiskars rotary cutter. They are very easy to hold and use. However, I would not recommend touching the blade with your finger to see how sharp that they are like I did which was not very smart! These are the sharpest cutting blades that I've ever used and by ordering them online, I got them for half the retail cost! They will make my jobs a lot more easier!

I have used other rotary cutters that work well, the price was right. the difference with this one, is the lock mechanism. to use it, it locks the blade down. Then when you are done using it, you must unlock the blade. I have used some that are locked when the handle is pressed, then when you are done holding the handle, it automatically retracts the blade. Personal choice.

Much easier on wrist then other rotary cutters. Very easy to use and the blades stay sharp for a long time.
