Stratocaster & Telecaster

This Auction / Listing is being offered EXCLUSIVELY as a SET of TWO “collectible” instruments; The American Standard Stratocaster AND the American Standard Telecaster pictured in the photos.  I am not willing to consider any offers which break up the set, nor can I accept any international bidders or offers for trade. – Thank you for understanding

Rare, unique, opportunity to bid on a  matching “collectors’ set” of  Fender Special Run/Limited Editions: FSR American Standard Stratocaster & FSR American Standard Telecaster; both in Surf-Green, both with matching Surf-Green headstocks; both in 100% mint, immaculate, pristine condition.  But that’s just the beginning..the tone, craftsmanship and playability of these two guitars is a “notch above” their “normal” versions. I brought them to my local luthier to be setup shortly after I bought them and he was amazed by the tone and resonance that these two “individuals” produced.  The guitars are both stock except for the pickups which I upgraded to DiMarzio’s Area series. – Long story short, the new pickups are higher output, but they are single coils across the board – not humbuckers- and both instruments retain all of the expected  Strat & Tele tones we know & love; just cleaner, louder and with no 60 cycle hum.  Please visit the Dimarzio site if you have specific questions.  I am fairly certain that I have the original stock pickups – but cannot promise them.  If I can locate them I’ll place them in the cases so you’ll have both sets, but the factory pickups don’t hold a candle to the new ones.  This was about a $500 upgrade between both guitars.  I am a living room rockstar and a collector.  These guitars have never left my home, I don’t gig with them they have not been in smoky environments etc.  They both look factory new and are exceptionally clean and well-maintained having spent the majority of their “lives” in their respective cases.  Naturally, the guitars both come with all of their paper work, cases, case-candy, etc.

DiMarzio Pickups:

Strat:  N = Area 58  M = Area 67   B = Area 67

Tele:   N = Area Velvet T     N = Area T

  • Fender SKB Case

American Standard Stratocaster Bridge
The American Standard Stratocaster sports a new bridge that gives sought-after tone with modern smooth trem travel. This redesigned block retains the mass and tone of a vintage bridge block, but is chamfered for access to deeper dives. The new saddles have the classic look and tone, but with modern improvements such as spacing, slot elongation, and height screw length).

Bridge Components
The American Standard Stratocaster incorporates bent steel Fender saddles. The original vintage-style Fender bent steel adjustable saddle is one of the components that give vintage Fenders their tonal 'mojo.' Fender conducted tone comparison tests, and discovered the magic all over again. Sonically, they have a wider tonal range and more character than the other saddles. Then Fender improved them, narrowing the spacing to afford more room (and complement the bigger frets and rolled edges), and also elongated the string slot to reduce friction and string breakage, while improving the string break angle over the primary contact point. The end result: more tone!

A typical cast bridge block is impregnated with a resin to eliminate 'voids' in the material and to bond it together. Fender's new steel block is infused with copper, which makes the block 100% homogeneous metal. The result is a more musical, higher mass bridge that has more of that machined-block sound. Fender was also able to keep the same American Series profile for increased tremolo travel.

Neck Gloss and Tint
The old Fender necks were satin all over primarily for the feel of the back of the neck. On the American Standards Fender kept the satin neck back, but still gave the rich tint and luster of a gloss finish to the front. When looking at the old and new side by side in comparison, there is no arguing that the new necks look classier and more detailed and 'finished'.

Thinner Body Undercoat
An undercoat serves to give the paint a smooth surface to adhere to so you have a nice looking finish. The thicker the undercoat, the more glass-like the finish, but the more constricted the guitar's body wood, which could affect tone. Fender has switched to a new undercoat that is thinner, and that allows the body to flex and resonate more, while retaining the cosmetic advantages of an undercoat.

Fender SKB Case
The new case is a true advancement in guitar presentation and protection. It is stackable, it balances perfectly, it is TSA lock equipped, and has glass reinforced nylon trigger latches and a killer form-fitted plush interior.

American Standard updates
The American Standard Telecaster is an elegantly straightforward instrument, and it's rare that a guitar that's been popular for so long can be improved upon. But that's exactly what Fender did, with a new bridge featuring six new American Standard bent steel saddles and a stamped brass plate. It's the same, only better! The new neck is super-comfortable, with a polyurethane finish and hand-rolled fretboard edges. And the premium SKB-made molded case lets you transport your Tele safely, with TSA locks, Glass-reinforced nylon trigger latches, and a form-fitted plush interior.

Classic design
You've probably heard the story before: Leo Fender began designing and building his soon-to-be-iconic guitars over a half-century ago, even though he didn't play guitar himself. The Telecaster represents Fender's first real success, and the fact that it remains such a sought-after guitar today speaks volumes about its quality and playability. It's been copied countless times, tweaked, mutated, modified, gutted, and bedecked with extras, but the original always shines through. The American Standard Telecaster continues this legacy by respecting the original while updating it enough to make it better than ever.

Tele tone
Descended from one of the true "grandaddies" of guitar designs, the American Standard Telecaster retains all the characteristics that make the Tele so popular across all musical genres. Its tone can range from articulate "chicken pickin'" cluck to warm sustain, crunchy power chords to crystal-clear chime. Only a handful of instruments stand out decade after decade, and the Tele's magical blend of playability, utility, and tone definitely puts it in among a select few.
