A fine large old Northwest Coast Tlingit hand carved and painted cedar totem pole dating from the mid 1900's. The totem is a model of the famous Kwakiutl Alert bay totem pole made by Charlie James, but this one is of Tlingit origins. The totem features a Thunderbird and a Bear with a human captive. It stands 13" tall with a 9 1/2" wingspan and is quite well painted in bold original colors. The carver choose an unusual light weight wood rather than the usual yellow cedar. This totem will make a great display item and a fine addition to anyone's collection .
