 A fine large old Northwest Coast Nootka Nuu-chah-nulth hand carved and painted cedar totem pole dating from the early 1900's. The totem is based of the famous Tlingit raven totem pole that was erected in Ketchikan in 1899, but executed with a more southern style typical of early Nootka or North Vancouver carvings sold in Vancouver BC . The totem is wonderfully carved with great deep expressive imagery and fantastic original thick paint pigments of green, white, red and black. Inscribed on the bottom of the base is " Canada Aug 24, 1925" The totem stands 13 1/2" tall with a base measuring 3 3/4" x 2 1/2" and is in excellent original condition with no damages or repairs noted. Just a normal patina from age and handling. . The totem makes a great display item and a fine addition to anyone's collection. Please add $9.95 for careful shipping and insurance (USA and Canada) .
