Eye Candy! Dated 1848 Initials MD Trapunto Blazing Star Antique Quilt

This is a sister to the all white trapunto quilt we are listing tonight, please see our other auctions for this amazing quilt.

This Trapunto, Blazing Star Quilt is dated 1848 and has the initials MD

There are print fabric blazing stars with red and yellow floral fabric ~ This fabric was printed with a iron mordant that has deteriorated, leaving holes/wear where the once brown pattern was.

There are padded, stuffwork "trapunto" work covering the entire ground around the stars. There are flowers, leaves, scrolls, and feathered wreath vines cover the quilt. The vines are done in cording.

Expertly hand quilted at 10-11 stitches per inch, covering the ground at intervals of just 1/4".

Finished with a hand applied binding of just 1/8" in width.

In the middle of the quilt is "MD" and "1848"

Light pencil marks are still visible as well as tiny cotton seed residue

There is also a tiny stamp on a front edge corner "FUH". (photo'd)

Very thin cotton batting

This quilt is in good condition, other than the red print, and has light wear and tanning. Please see the extensive photos for your reference.
