EXTRAORDINARY & RARE FRENCH CLOCK CHINESE MOTIF WITH CHANGING AUTOMATON SCENES This spectacular gilded Dore bronze French clock dates to 1840, with a silk-thread suspension movement. Standing a grandiose 26" tall, it features two Chinese figures on the top, standing astride an open temple. Within the temple are six mirror-backed, hand-painted panels, each with a different scene. Each hour, the scenes change once, thus taking six hours to complete a cycle of all the scene panels. The 8-day clock strikes on the hour and half-hour. This has been serviced by my restorers and everything works perfectly. This wonderful automaton clock is especially rare, with few known examples in existence. A similar clock appears in the book "Mystery, Novelty & Fantasy Clocks" by Derek Roberts. Overall condition is truly superb; this is a true museum piece. WORLDWIDE SHIPPING VIA FEDEX
