I love Excel Saga. I first rented the movie when I was in high school and it became a hit with my sister and I. This anime is absolutely nuts, with the kind of non-stop idiotic humor that I love. It's obnoxious humor, making fun of everything from horror movies to pedophiles. If you're easily offended by rude, crude humor, don't buy this. But if you're like me and you like your jokes to hit every topic, even the tough ones, you might enjoy it. This anime is also a parody of anime. One line sums that up, "I've got the spikiest hair so follow me!". This cartoon really makes fun of all the clichés you'll find in other anime shows on TV. If you're an anime fan, you'll at least enjoy how they manage to touch on every annoying, played out thing that happens in anime cartoons. It's not for everyone. Our boyfriends always hated it, most people couldn't keep up and found it out of control and loud. My son can't stand the voice of the main character. I'm not saying everyone will enjoy it. You should definitely rent before you buy. But if you're like me and you love the first episode, or any of them for that matter, you'll love owning the entire series. Whenever I'm in a bad mood I watch these movies and I can't help but laugh. These movies are classics in my home, but it's definitely an acquired taste. It's worth trying it, because you might end up liking it as much as I do! :)Read full review
Here we have a true anime classic. In my opinion, mandatory viewing for all anime fans. An insane show, along the lines of the original SNL or SCTV. Totally irreverent to everything. Thumbs it's nose at anime "rules" and just a comical look at pop culture of it's time. The downside is it's origins in the anime/otaku world of the late 90's early 2000's. Some jokes may skim over some younger viewers. Enter this collection to save the day with the Vid-Notes option. Get Pop Ups with valubale notes about the scene. Those can be funny as well. There are plenty of extra's and options on the disc menu's so there is alot to enjoy. While I can't handle more than 1 disc at a time due to Excel's VA, that is my opinion only. Careful shopping can find this set at a good price, so get it already.
This is one of the few box-sets I've bought. It's so hilarious and I love watching it over and over. It's about the adventures of a freshly graduated high school student and her new job with an organization who wants to take over the world. It can be watched in either Japanese with English subtitles, or in the dubbed English. Either version is great! Some violence and brief nudity, so not recommended for younger viewers.

first of all, this edition has the most and best extras or special features and the dvd cases artwork resembles the manga. Secondly, I consider this series like japans response to american comedy cartoons and succeeded. And finally, watch out for Puchuus ^_^.
