This is a well built tool, sturdy vise, rigid cast base, relatively quiet, blade quality seems good. As the operator of a one-man fab shop I am always looking for tools to make my job easier, safer, and more productive so, I try to spend my money wisely. My first task for this saw was to cut 100+ pieces of 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" x 1/8" angle iron. I stacked and cut as many as 4 pieces at one time, the saw cut the material with ease and with very nice cut quality. I was impressed that there was rarely a bur left on the cut material. This saw offers a significant time savings as opposed to using my band saw for jobs like this. A couple considerations that led to the purchase of this saw was not having to deal with abrasive blades, too much dust, smell, and sparks plus, not loosing cutting capacity with each cut as you would with an abrasive blade. I would recommend giving this saw serious consideration before spending your money on any similar type saw.Read full review

This is a high quality tool! I have a lot of experience with this type of equipment and it is the best thing to come down the pike in a very long time. a heavy cast base to give it stability, plenty of power, cuts heavy steel like butter. Note, keep a face shield hanging over the handle unless you like eating hot steel curls. The quick release vise works great and locks down tight. It comes with onboard tools to change blades and make adjustments but none were needed. a couple of very nice extras are the slip on round stock holder and the large chip drawer that catches 85% of the chips. It even has a place to hookup a chip collector. I highly recommend this saw!

A friend bought the Evolution II that now has the stamped metal base. His was one of the older versions with a cast base like this one. I definitely prefer a case base on a chop saw. The quick release is junk on these things. The thread protector that goes under the little flip lever on the quick release is a constant battle. It's made out of some flimsy metal and gets jacked up all of the time and kind of kills the quick release feature. I don't need that feature anyway and would have much preferred a traditional screw post over any quick release. But this quick release does not nearly match the quality of the rest of the machine. Everything else about this saw is awesome. You will not regret it, even if you curse the quick release a few dozen times and finally determine to fix it like I did. Spring steel. It would have gotten 5 stars no problem except for the junky quick release.Read full review

This saw is a vast improvement of my old abrasive saw! Accurate cutting, no hot sparks, much cleaner operation. Cut a 1/2" piece off the end of a sched 40 steel black pipe and you can pick up the cut off up immediately..no burns, just luke warm. Clamping and guards work very well. I use it for fab on miscellaneous jobs. I have a horizontal band saw but this is much quicker for smaller items and gives a better cut edge.

This is absolutely the best chopsaw i've ever owned. This saw combined with the evolution blade cuts through steel like butter. Yes, it's an expensive saw compared to others out there. But the performance makes it worth it's weight in gold. Don't waste your money on chopsaws from Harbor Freight or Home Depot. If you cut steel, this saw is the only unit to have. Spend the money.
