So Im not sure if my US buddies are aware, but radar detectors are illegal in most places in Canada that typically accompany a $250 fine and 3 demerit points (a great way to raise money for governments and insurance companies). The Redline is apparently the only detector on the market that is undetectable to Spectre RDDs (Radar Detector Detectors) THIS IS A MUST IF YOU PLAN TO USE A DETECTOR IN CANADA. I have been using radar detectors for over 25 years and WILL NOT drive without one. I have lost several to police over the years and I go out and buy a new one the next day. I hope the Redline Stealth doesn't let me down. One other point for Canadians, while you need a radar detector for K and Ka bands, I find it a requirement to ALSO have a LIDAR jammer (I use the Blinder ... see Blinder website... Im not a salesman I just like the product) The problem with LIDAR, which they use a lot in Canada, and a radar detector is that when a cop hits you with LIDAR, all the radar detector does is tell you that you just got a ticket. A jammer will BLOCK the signal and the cop can't get a lock on you, so you just slow to speed limit and shut it off. ITS FREAKIN' BRILLIANT!!! Now with my Redline, I'm invincible (knocking on wood).Read full review

I ran an 8500 for years with flawless operation, and after about a decade on my hot dash it finally gave up. Going back to Escort was a no-brainer for me. The new OLED models have trouble with sunlight, which Colorado has more of than anywhere on Earth, so I went with the Redline. The top end models come with GPS, but we've all got that in our phones, so I don't need it in my radar detector. According to Escort's website, the Redline is compatible with Escort Live via my phone's bluetooth, so I should be good. Except it's not. After buying the detector, you have to pony up another pile of money for the SmartCord Live, which has the bluetooth capability in it. This brings it's cost right up next to the other high end detectors they sell, making the Redline only good for it's 90s looking red LED display. All that aside, I took the first one out for a spin to my favorite speed sign, an older model using K band, and......nothing. Zero. Nada. Doesn't make a sound as the sign displays my changing speed. Tried it 10 more times, never a beep. Beach Camera was great about a replacement, which has just showed up, and hopefully registers the sign just fine. We'll see, but the Live debacle is too much hassle for any better rating than the three stars. Escort needs to go back to their old, simpler solutions. Do you want a hardwired detector, a dash mounted detector, or a battery operated one? That's it, they're all the best, pick your mounting solution.Read full review

Very easy to install, just stick to the front window, plug into the power socket in the car and you are done. Works very well but keep in mind that while reviews speak about detecting radar from 10+miles away, the actual distance varies according to source and terrain. All police cars and cameras I have encountered used Ka band and were detected from about 0.5 miles away. Exactly enough time to break... It detects sources not directed at you too or behind you just as well Important to note: in order to use the iPhone app, you need an additional cable which gives the device Bluetooth connectivity.(30-40$). This app is nice but by no means a must have
The range is great The accuracy is excellent Keeps false alarm to a minimum which is much better than others The sticky cup laches on to the windshield firmly but the lever that attaches the device to the sticky cup has too much play. Especially when the road is not perfectly smooth, you can see and hear the vibration of the radar detector
