Refinishing and Restoration:
We put great effort into our refinishing and/or restoration and strive to provide you with a wonderful piece of furniture at a reasonable cost. The term "refinished" or "restored" is used in our descriptions to indicate the process chosen for a given piece. Each item is evaluated, and then we employ a variety of refinishing or restoration techniques depending on the severity of wear to the pieces' original finish and its wood type - usually birch, walnut, rosewood, or teak. Refinishing involves completely removing the original finish, making any small repairs, sanding to 400 grit, staining, and lastly the application of a finish coat of either oil, or satin or gloss lacquer, once again determined by the piece and wood type. Restoration involves slightly breaking down the original finish of a piece with denatured alcohol, making any small repairs, and lastly the application of oil or lacquer over the original finish. Some of the products we most commonly use are TimberSoy natural wood stains, Watco Danish Oil, and low VOC Hydrocote Resithane lacquer. Our touch-ups and minor repairs are made using a vast array of Mohawk professional products. All drawers and doors are checked for smooth operation and all metal parts cleaned or polished. In order to give you the best idea of the finished color of each piece we use descriptive terms such as apple juice, caramel, honey, amber, cocoa, espresso, etc. Please e-mail or call 410.804.4444 with any questions regarding refinishing or restoration.

Upholstery:
All of our upholstered pieces are given the same degree of attention as our refinished pieces, and then some. All wood parts are refinished as described in the Refinishing and Restoration section. Next our very talented upholsterer takes over, who was recently voted "Best of Baltimore", in the Baltimore City Paper. All foam is replaced with high density foam, the finest grade available, webbing is replaced, and lastly, zippered cushions are made or a piece is recovered using one of our woven wools. On occasion we sell pieces before we have them upholstered. In these cases our intent is to give you options with fabric colors and on some pieces wood color and finish. We have on hand colors such as charcoal, black, dijon, maraschino red, avocado, electric blue, and eggplant, but you are welcome to provide your own fabric. Please call us at 410.804.4444 to discuss "ready to be" upholstered pieces and all available options. The turn around time for our upholstery work is on the fast side as we have a very strong relationship with our upholsterer. We will place you in direct contact with our upholsterer should we assist you in the complete upholstery process.

Policies:
Refunds are not given on furniture purchases due to the high cost of shipping and nature of vintage furniture. It should be assumed that all pieces have character and/or baseline of wear consistent with decades of normal use. Although we try our best to describe our items in detail, and put much effort into refinishing and restoration, we can't describe every minor normal use issue with each piece of vintage furniture. Please ask all question before bidding. We are just a phone call away and are always happy to discuss a particular piece in detail and answer any questions you may have.
