I have had 3 of the original USA Wolfgang Specials over the past 15 years. 1998 through 1999. They have a range of sounds that can cover any type of music. Pickups are soft and sweet, then become hotter with the turn if the know. I especially like no tone control. There's a balance of sound that naturally takes over. The finishes are solid, glossy, and soft. The headstock has it's uniqueness as well leaving the original runs of USA PEAVEY Wolfgang's as a stand alone product. The price has doubled in used guitar values over the last 5 to 7 years as well. My first purchase was $400 back in the early 2000's. Now we're seeing values in the low $1100 to $1500. The recommendations are 1- pick one up while prices are on the rise. 2- pick another up as prices are also going to skyrocket.

Guitar was well made. A bit on the small size overall compared to a regualer EVH Fender Striped series. I stand 6 foot 3 inches tall and this Wolfgang seemed physically too small for me. I actually think, standing up right, the Wolfgang is about 2-3 inchez shorter than a Fender EVH. Body shape and color were right up my alley. Cherry Red sunburst was absolutely beautiful. The color is what initially drew me to this guitar. Unfortunately, this guitar, as well as ALL Wolfgang style guitars, have what they call 'vintage style' frets. This means they are at least 2 sizes smaller than Jumbo style frets. I am a huge fan of Jumbo frets and Vintage frets just weren't doing it for me. Too small for riffing and soloing, in my opinion. Price was great and it came with case, which I loved. EVH Striped series guitars come with NO case. The sound was awesome, especially the neck pickup. A nice warm tone. Bridge pickup had great sound with good saturated sustain. Although it had many good points, the vintage style frets was the reason why I exchanged it for another EVH Striped series guitar. I now have all three styles. Love each one of them. The neck is nice and big with Jumbo frets. As far as the Wolfie, it had great sound, looked awesome, came with a nice hardshell case and the price was affordable. But the vintage style frets were a big downer for me. I like the EVH striped series a lot better. Would I ever consider buying the Wolfie again? Maybe...possibly. There was a lot of positive things about this guitar which I fell in love with. I would consider looking at this guitar again sometime down the road. But not now. I am sure that there are tons of people who love this guitar. If it had an option to get different style frets on the neck of this guitar...I would own a half dozen by now. ;) Hope this review helps you. You can not go wrong with a Wolfgang.Read full review
Very nice guitar. Flawlessly built, stays in tune, fit and finish is perfect. I have over twenty high end guitars, and have owned over a hundred nice guitars, and this guitar rates in the top five. Great attention has been made on fine details such as fret work, paint, control cavitys, and final setup. The pickups are well balanced, and you can not make the Floyd Rose go out of tune...It is very solid. I have played it through several amps, from clean sounds to heavy overdrive, and it all sounds great. You can hear every strings voice as you strum chords. I am very impressed with this guitar.
First off I got the Wolfgang USA Stealth model , it looks , feels , sounds & plays amazing ! I mostly play my Gibson Les Paul's so when I pick this one up it feels a bit awkward but after a few minutes it goes away & gets really fun to play ! The neck with ebony fretboard is effortless feeling making for some fast legato phrasing & I'm not at all a speed type of player . The tone from the humbuckers is very well suited for any type of playing you do from shimmering clean sounds all the way to the highly sought after " brown sound " ! I've played it through a Boogie Triple Rectifier & a 1 watt Marshall JVM & couldn't be more satisfied with the sound of this guitar ! Now for the beware part ; apparently they don't make a left handed version of the D-Tuna which makes tuning a pain in the ass ! I'm going to purchase a D-Tuna & see if I can modify it by placing the tiny fine tuner on the correct (for leftys) side . The other thing is the pots increase from 0 - 10 going counter clockwise to which according to Fender/EVH support " that's the only way they make pots " but my Les Paul's are the opposite . That being said , it feels awkward at first but you can get used to it . I would recommend this guitar to anyone but with warning to the " southpaws " .Read full review
This FENDER EVH Wolfgang is listed as a LIMITED production unit, with only 60 of said units released to the United States. It is a fine instrument and arrived in perfect shape. This is my second "Wolfgang"... my first being from the '90's Peavy Wolfgang Standard (Patent Pending era). I will say that the feel of this guitar is custom. The sound is amazing! The fact that it is a R/W/B model just makes playing all Van Halen music that much more fun. The case feels indestructible. Overall, I am very happy with the guitar and I would believe that anyone that gets the opportunity to play one would feel the same. 5150 time!
