This is
a used EMCO Maximat V10-P lathe. Made in Austria. Don't confuse this
with
an "enco" made in china machine. This is a high quality machine which
would be great for the home shop machinist looking for something better
than what's regularly available.
I apologize to all viewers. I erroneously listed this machine as a
Maximat 11 yesterday (5/21). It is a V10-P.
Physically the lathe is only about 4 feet wide, 2 feet deep and 4 feet
tall, so it'll fit anywhere in your garage or shop. Its heavy enough to
do good work, but can easily be slid around if necessary. It weighs a
little over 500 pounds.
The machine sits on its original stand with keyed tooling compartment
and slide-out chip tray,
and is extremely well tooled so that you can use it right away without
needing to buy much else.
The lathe is in clean, very good cosmetic conditon, other than some paint, and
in excellent running condition. I can't find a serial number on it, but
believe built in the 1970's and apparently not used too much. Certainly
not beat up at all.
This lathe runs on 110V, single phase. Just plug it in.
Its an english machine and all the dials are in inches. Dials and
handles are excellent. Backlash is very minimal at 5-to-10 thousandths.
It has a (measured) 11" swing, and about 28" between centers. Standard
MT2 tail
stock and MT3 headstock. Hole through is a little over 3/4".
The ways are sharp, crisp and excellent.
Power longitudinal and cross feeds.
This is a GEAR HEAD lathe, with 2 speed motor and 8 speeds from 60 to
2500 rpm. The headstock is oil
bath (fresh oil), and contains heat-treated gears running on adjustable
taper-roller bearings.
Built-in threading with 24 standard threads from 8 to 56 tpi.
Very nice complement of tooling including:
Emco 3 jaw, 5" chuck
Emco 4 jaw, 6" chuck
Emco 7-1/2" faceplate
New quick change toolholder with 5 holders (up to 1/2"):
Turning holder
Turning and boring bar holder
Boring bar holder
Parting blade holder
Knurling tool with 3 sets of knurls
Tooling also includes 2 drill chucks-one straight shank to fit the
boring bar holder (for cross and angle drilling) and one Morse 2 taper
back Jacobs chuck for the tailstock. Also included is a set of carbide
tipped (3/8") bits and several 5/16" high speed bits (not shown) for
grinding your own special shapes, parting blade, live center and all
the chuck keys and toolholder wrench.
Finally, the machine includes its original chuck/chip guard for safety,
original parts manual and even the original vinyl cover to keep the
machine clean.
This machine can be fitted with a milling head (not included) which is
why the slotted cross slide is larger than most machines of its size.
They're a bit rare bu occassionally do show up on ebay.
===============================================
Overall this is an excellent quality, smaller machine, in ready-to-work
condition, with all the tooling needed to get going immediately. Any
beginning machinist or experienced operator will be pleased to own this
machine.
