Now that you’ve installed a drip irrigation system in order to conserve water and have healthier, stronger plants, you’ve already learned that you can no longer broadcast dry granular fertilizer onto the soil surface and expect it to be leached into the soil by overhead watering. You’ve determined, like millions of other gardeners have, that the fertilizer must be dispensed directly through the irrigation system. And, you’ve asked yourself, how can I do that easily and inexpensively? Well, we’ve got the solution! Keep in mind, the Add-It fertilizer injector works equally well on a conventional sprinkler irrigation system!

Drip Rite Irrigation Products® offers this ASAE award-winning Add-It proportioning fertilizer injector that comes with ½" female pipe threads (FPT) inlet and outlet and has a 1½ quart capacity. A minimum flow rate through the irrigation system of ½ gallons per minute (GPM) is required in order for the injector to function. Dispense your favorite totally water-soluble fertilizer such as Scotts Miracle-Gro® or Peters Professional®, when premixed with water. The Add-It injector may be installed before a manifold of valves under full line pressure up to 100 PSI, or after an individual valve.  Add-It has been developed for use in a drip or conventional sprinkler irrigation system. Over many years, tests have concluded that applying liquid fertilizer on a regular basis is much more beneficial to a plant than being fed infrequently with a dry, granular form of fertilizer. Liquid fertilizer is absorbed far more easily by a plants root system, and there are no leftover residues or minerals that can, over a period of prolonged use, damage a plant or lawn.

You may also want to consider applying a wetting agent (surfactant) to help breakup compacted soils, compost tea to increase micro-organisms in the soil, micro-nutrients and Vitamin Institute’s SUPERthrive containing vitamins and hormones for healthier plants, and vitamin B-1 when transplanting trees and/or shrubs. Fertilizing is not the labor intensive task that it used to be. Tests show that liquid fertilizer is absorbed far more easily by a plants root system.

The Add-It fertilizer injector installs directly into the water supply line and operates without electricity, using water flow through the injector as the power source. There is no measurable pressure loss. The amount of fertilizer or additive concentrate dispensed from the tank will be directly proportional to the volume of water entering the injector, regardless of variations in flow or pressure, which may occur in the main line.
