Dated 1856 KURDISTAN LONG CARPET. GREAT COLORS & DESIGN

EARLY ANTIQUE KURDISH CARPET, Dated 1272 or 1856 with an inscription, Persian Kurdistan, Northern Khurasan province, and comes in excellent overall condition with old repilings. Provenance: The Ali Hasimi Collection of Kurdish Carpets, Istanbul, Turkey. The exact size is: 3'-11" x 7'-5" (119 x 226 cm). A really beautiful Kurdish tent carpet with an early date displaying a field pattern of three panels containing large "Memling-gul" medallion interiors all within a "leaf and calyx" main border and two stepped guard border arrangements. This lovely old weaving has wonderful natural dye colors including aubergine purple/brown, pumpkin, emerald green, rose red, blood red, and yellow/gold. The overall condition is quite excellent considering its age, but it has had some minor, professional, re-pilings of fold wear to the field, reweaving of the outermost top and bottom two guard stripes on the ends, and areas of re-wrapping to the side cord over-castings. All of this expert work was accomplished sometime in the past. Rather than looking unsightly to the eye, this expertly accomplished conservation makes the carpet, once again, aesthetically appealing.
