| RAY MANZAREK and ROBBIE KREIGER
Color 12¾x18¾ promotional poster for Riders on the Storm, the name for the resurrected psychedelic band the Doors, appearing at New York City's Irving Plaza. Signed by original Doors members Ray Manzarek and Robbie Kreiger
Poster signed "Ray Manzarek"
and "Robby Kreiger".
Color, 12¾x18¾, printed on cardstock. Promotional poster for the band Riders on the Storm at New York City's Irving Plaza (now the Fillmore New York at Irving Plaza). Robbie Kreiger and Ray Manzarek reformed the Doors in 2001
with vocalist Ian Astbury, formerly of the Cult, as the Doors of the 21st Century. This new band was renamed Riders on the Storm after a dispute with formerly Doors' member John Densmore over the Doors' name.
Although he has released some innovative and well regarded solo recordings since, MANZAREK,
born Raymond Daniel Manzarek, Jr. in Chicago, Illinois in 1939, will forever be associated with the haunting music of The Doors.
Next to Jim Morrison's vocals, Manzarek's electric organ was the most characteristic feature of the Doors' recordings,
which burst on the rock scene with Light My Fire
in 1967. The group continued to top the charts until Morrison's death of an apparent drug overdose in 1971. Manzarek is highly critical of Oliver Stone's 1991 bio-film The Doors
and hopes to develop a stage musical on the group. KREIGER,
born Robert Alan Krieger in Los Angeles, California in 1946, was guitarist for the Doors and, more significantly, one of the band's important songwriters. He came to the band after studying Indian Music at UCLA and Ravi Shankar's Kinnara School and attending meditation classes, where he met future Doors partner Ray Manzarek. Kreiger wrote the chart-topping and now-classic Light My Fire for the Doors' self-titled debut album in 1967.
After frontman Jim Morrison's death in 1971, Kreiger released some solo albums before reforming the Doors, now known as Riders on the Storm, with Manzarek. Lightly creased, otherwise in fine condition.
