This beautiful, deluxe TOGGILI  Wooden GERMAN CHALET WEATHER HOUSE is in excellent condition, is complete, and has been tested in my home. This weather house is packed with intricate details and offers more items that the usual weather house. It features a Bavarian Woman and Man who forecast the weather.  The man has a rifle and his dog is standing on his hind legs loyally next to him, which is a detail you seldom see. The  pine tree is wood as well as the bench, balcony, and stump. A mother and baby deer are posing in front amid colored, shaved wood chip landscaping. A bunny is sitting on its hind legs in front of the woman. In fact, this is the first time I have seen this variation. A colorful mushroom is growing off to the side.. The shutters have hearts on them plus there is a huge deer head mounted on top (in intact condition-often these are broken)  The back panel is extremely clean for its age.  The thermometer is intact and working. There is a blue bird perched on the balcony and a lantern with a candle inside! Both man and woman swing freely. The house is 7" long by 3" deep by 6 1/2" high and is made in Western Germany. West German items are becoming collectible in their own right. This one is very clean and 100% complete and working. Note: I now have three of these pristine models in stock. The engineering behind these ingenious and charming weather forecasters is a twisted stand of natural material. This twisted strand absorbs water molecules from moist, humid air. It then relaxes causing the man to come out. He represents change and rainy weather. When the surrounding atmosphere is dry, the strand shrinks and tightens up, causing the girl to come out. As in the fairer sex, she represents dry and fair weather  Many of us grew up with these weather houses in our parent's home. I would check the weather house on our bookshelf to see what kind of day it was going to be outside. As I kid I often wondered how it worked!

Set it up in an airy place. When the weather is stormy, twist the knob (never pull it up) so that the man just comes out. When there is sunny, fair weather, then twist the knob so that the woman comes out. Do this once only and don't adjust it any further. In fact, it works best when left alone after the initial setup.
