This auction is for a collectible, working spearing decoy from Minnesota. It was made by David Perkins who is one of the most recognized decoy carvers working today. Perkins decoys are featured in several reference books on the subject and are also included in the collection of the Museum of American Folk Art in New York. They have been the subject of numerous articles, prints and TV shows over the years. Mr. Perkins is currently in his mid to late 70s and his decoys are getting tougher to come by. I think that there has been only one other David Perkins Rockhopper Penguin sold on ebay over the years and they are really great collectors items. It measures 11" long from its nose to tail tips and has a very wide body. It has carved wing and feather details as well as a carved bill. The eyes are glass. This is an internally weighted fish spearing decoy that has been hand made and hand painted by one of the best known folk art decoy makers of our time. The form, coloration and personality are outstanding. It is in great, original unfished condition. As he does with all of his decoys, Mr. Perkins has given this decoy a special patinated finish that simulates age and wear. It is signed with his DFD (Duluth Fish Decoys) stamp in the belly weight and is guaranteed to be authentic. I am listing four different Perkins decoys today including a Crow, Bufflehead duck and Frog today so make sure to check them all out. Don 't forget to Check my other auctions for more collectible fish decoys. I automatically combine shipping on items that end the same day to save you money. I SELL MORE FISH DECOYS THAN ANYONE, ANYWHERE! NO RESERVE!
