The animation seems better than most background characters in a Hana Barberra cartoon ( tks Bart) and leaves the viewer wondering - I bet I could do that. The stories are great and the characters are fun and kinda relatable- being kids as they are. The ending music is emotional and appropriate and the voice overs are fitting. There was a definite budget on these seasons and if the animation expectations were higher this cartoon would have quite a bit larger following. Seems to encapsulate the very heart of D&D- you can't hide but you can try and glide until you can fly.

This is a great series! We decided to buy it because we had picked up the first few episodes at a retailer and the whole family loved it so we decided to get the rest of the series. The Dungeons & Dragons Animated series has that great feature that a lot of early animated series had of always having a "moral of the story" reminiscent of Thundercats, He-Man, etc. As a Dungeons & Dragons fan, it is great to have something from that genre that can be watched with my younger children. The writing gets better and better as the series progresses. The only negative is that the last episode sort of leaves you hanging. Too bad there were not more made!
Dungeons and Dragons, the cartoon, stands as truly one of the last brilliant Saturday morning cartoons. Often a show would be so outstanding, it was virtually impossible for offerings afterwards to compare, which probably led to Saturday's downfall. The story of six kids becoming lost in the mystical realm was truly creative, well-done and masterfully executed, hands down the best casting in Donny Most as Eric and Adam Rich as Presto. Some can complain about the animation seeming choppy at times, but I have never been distracted by that. Undeniably, the musical accompaniment is one of the biggest contributors as well. Very effectively done. Standout episode must be when the kids decide they want to take on Vengar instead of being handed another riddle about how to get home. Dungeonmaster's shining moment when he asks the kids if he may be dismissed now. Too brilliant cartoon.Read full review
5 stars for the nostalgic. 1 less for those who didn't grow up with this. I really love the (early) 80ies artstyle of the cartoon. The individual stories are fairly simple but good. It would've been nice if there had been an episode where they actually arrive in the realm of dungeons & dragons instead of the intro (more explanation on how & why). This dvd set had NO subtitles at all (not even for the hearing-impaired). Nor any special features.

Oh wow! I was pleasantly surprised that these childhood cartoons were offered on DVD and they are just as I remembered them. Video quality is good and it's presented in it's original TV format (though I wish it was widescreen) but great nonetheless. Almost 10 hours of Dungeons and Dragons glory. There are 27 episodes total and they're all included on 3 DVDs. Great collection and highly recommended!!
