Used it for my pfSense router. Haven't checked SMART data yet, but it seems to be in good working order.

I installed this in a netbook with a SATA I interface, which many older laptops remain saddled with, but first I tested it in a desktop with SATA III. This drive had read speeds about 80% of those of the normal drive in the system (a Samsung 840 EVO, which is one of the fastest consumer-level drives) but the write speeds weren't even close. They were, however, still above 100 MB/s. They just weren't 400-450 MB/s like the 840 EVO. When installed in the target system, the read speeds fall off to about 105 MB/s, and the writes to about 80 MB/s, because of the SATA I connection. Thus, while I could have bought a faster drive, it wouldn't have done a damn bit of good in this particular application. tl;dr: For an older system with SATA I, this drive will work as well as anything ever will.

When the hard drive crashed in my Samsung nf310 netbook I decided to upgrade to this ssd. Swapping out the hard drive was easy and my bios settings didn't need to be changed at all. The only small hitch I ran into was that the ssd overfills the space ever so slightly but I blame this on the netbook not the ssd. The screw wholes don't mate up with anything so I put a dab of silicone under it and it fits almost perfect. Of course the boot up time was cut in half. In addition overall performance of the machine was was instantly improved. This may not be the best ssd but you'd be hard pressed to find a better value.
No entry-level product here...!! For all of us people who are smart and converting over to Linux to maintain our security and privacy... this drive is more than enough! Unless you are into video editing and something that uses a lot of hard drive space, you will never need anything more than this drive here and the brand Crucial is a trusted name! I have been using their memory for years now and have used many other brands... but the crucial brand can take a licken and keep on ticken!
As expected, the quality has been excellent. Installation was difficult because ASROCK motherboard did not recognize the drive properly. I restored my system onto the drive on my other PC and it booted win/7 properly. Win/7 then assigned the correct drivers. Reboot and it's done. Users should be aware that their motherboard may not identify the SSD drives correctly. If so, then use your most recent PC to get your system loaded onto the drive.
