Amy Voorhees Searles for the 2012 Coffin Hunt
Artist Amy Voorhees Searles was one of thirteen artists selected to create a pair of coffins for Hidden Los Angeles and CreepyLA's 2012 Coffin - a thirteen day long scavenger hunt where one coffin a day for thirteen days would be hidden somewhere in Los Angeles, and clues released only that anyone could decipher to help lead them to these one of a kind works of art. One of each artist's coffins was used in the hunt, while a second companion coffin, like this one, is being made available on eBay. Each artist was given a small wooden coffin to start with. Amy's coffin is called "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and Go Seek." On the lid is a closeup painting of Mr. Hyde, on the bottom, a closeup painting of Dr. Jekyll. When folded open, both faces align to show the split personality. Inside the coffin Amy has added a vial of some potion (reportedly) from Dr. Jekyll's lab. A perfect work for any collector who enjoys macabre art, horror, pop art, or Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. More about the artist: |
