This is THE Jamboree shoulder patch set you want to commemorate the inaugural Boy Scout Jamboree in its new home at the Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia.

There will only be 30 of these limited edition prints available with the set of six shoulder patches, each commercially produced and frame ready print is hand signed and by the artist. You will not be able to get this print anywhere else and it ties together the story of these shoulder patches nicely showing the realm of Asgard in the center along with a smaller version of the draft copy of the shoulder patch set. Since there will only be 30 of these prints sold with the shoulder patches, I can see them as very rare and very collectible.

Gamehaven Council of southeastern Minnesota pays tribute to Minnesota's rich Scandinavian heritage, celebrating the mythical Norse gods of Asgard. The idea was brought forward by some of the boys who thought Jamboree shoulder patches based on Norse gods would be cool given the recent popularity of super hero movies. Norse is the name given to the Germanic tribes who emigrated and settled in Scandinavia around the year 1000 BC. The Norse gods have left numerous traces in modern vocabulary and of every day western life in most North Germanic language speaking countries such as Norway, Sweden, and Denmark.

An example is some of the names of the days of the week; modeled after the names of the days of the week in Latin. The names for Tuesday through to Friday were replaced with Nordic equivalents of the Roman gods and the name for Monday after the guardian of the Moon.

Day of the week / Norse origin
(1 of 6) Monday / Mani’s Day: Norse god of the moon. He flies through the night sky chased by a hateful wolf. Whenever the wolf gets too close, a lunar eclipse takes place.
(2 of 6) Tuesday / Tyr’s Day: Norse god of War and son of Odin who sacrificed his hand in the binding of Fenrir.
(3 of 6) Wednesday / Odin’s Day: King of the Norse gods and Norse god of poetry and death.
(5 of 6) Friday / Freya’s Day: Norse goddess of love and beauty.
(6 of 6) No Day for Loki / Loki, the adopted brother of Thor and Norse god of mischief, was not granted a day of the week for his own. Feeling slighted, he forever plots his revenge in the shadows. Loki is a master of deception and illusion, who can hide in plain sight among a field of fleur-de-lis in this patch. .

Free shipping by the next business day.
The print and shoulder patches will be mailed in a tube to protect them.
