Would You like to own the side of a mountain in Colorado? 2 adjacent lots (4.508 acres) are available at Forbes Park in south central Colorado either for sale or reasonable trade on property. It is located about 4 ½ hrs from Winter Park, 4 hrs from Albuquerque, 3 ½ hrs from Denver & Vail, 2 hrs from Colorado Springs, 1 ½ hrs from Taos. San Luis and Fort Garland are close by for shopping and entertainment. There are several local golf courses and 4 ski areas within a 2 hour drive. A sightseeing train from Alamosa runs around the scenic Forbes Park area and down to La Veta every day during the summer in addition to many other local events.
Forbes Park is a gated community encompassing 13,046 acres bordering the San Isabel National Forest in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. There are meadows, forests, streams, beaver ponds and lakes in protected common lands with many miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, cross country skiing and wildlife viewing. You will see herds of elk & deer; birds from the smallest hummingbird to turkey & eagles with many songbirds & quail between. A well run land owners association is serious about keeping the original covenants to conserve the pristine, quiet and harmonious landscape and protect the abundant wildlife. Forbes Inc developed the area in 1977 to preserve portions of the old King Ranch from out of control development. Five years later all the lots were sold out.
The lots are valued at $10,000 each and the 2010 taxes have been paid.
The starting bid for this Mountain Paradise which will be preserved for generations to come is $10,000 for both lots…

There is no hunting or shooting in the Park but the Cuchara Recreation Area in the San Isabel National Forest gives outdoor enthusiasts a myriad of choices for camping, picnicking, hiking, hunting & lake fishing as well as a four-wheel drive road and trail suitable for ATVs & dirt bikes. It is normally open from mid-May through October.
Any home or cabin must be at least 600 sq ft, built onsite. You may park an RV on your parcel for up to 3 weeks per year and longer with permission from the LOA.
