I bought this book because it is an excellent reference source for Prewar Lionel It offers a friendly useful format including pictures and rarity along with years of production It comes in a compact size but in contrast offers a wealth of useful information I've also purchased the postwar version also available together make a great travel pair to take to train shows for reference. I would highly recommend to other Lionel enthusiasts and collectors.
The guide is easy to use and informative as to years of production and appearance of older Lionel trains. I decided to buy the book to help me make decisions as to what engines to posibly purchase and the average prices that are charged for any train that I may be interested in according to condition and other factors. It's a good guide to have for any train collector.
I don't collect to much in this year range, but I do find the reading very interesting and it is nice to have a book, that should you find an item within this era, gives you wonder color pictures and values without any searching. It's a great book, one of the better purchases I made this year.
I opened this little handbook for a skim and didn't put it down for over an hour. Chocked full of photos and information and so neatly condensed! Not only did it cover the models I was interested in, but has inspired me to collect others. Doyle's brief history of Lionel, found in the first few pages, leaves the reader and collector feeling filled with expertise, historical perspective and enthusiasm for the best model train ever made! This booklet is a must-have for Lionel collectors at any level.
Awesome little reference book on Prewar Lionel trains. Abundant color photos.
