Bid/Buy with Confidence;
I have a 98.5% feedback rating, comprised of over 14,000 total positive feedbacks !
You don’t get a rating like that by selling things that don’t work as advertised, or by treating customers with only the utmost respect!!!!!
I have a Bachelors Degree in Business (4-year degree) and an Associates Degree in Electronics Technology (2-year degree), so I am well versed in what I discuss below. I had a 22-year career with GE Healthcare involving electronics before I started this eBay business.
This auction is ONLY for the REPAIR of ONE 18 volt COLEMAN POWERMATE CHARGER (Model 166), which must be sent to me for the repair. This charger charges the 18 volt Coleman Batteries used for the Powermate Drill, Saw, and other accessories sold by Coleman. I have sold several hundreds of repaired chargers with no complaints yet.... see my feedback details! See information below on how to ship me your old charger. Will be repaired to the original manufacturers specifications, or BETTER!
If you don't have a Coleman charger to send me for repair, click on the "Ask a question" link located in the upper right hand corner of this auction page. I may be able to either set up a Buy-It-Now auction for you (at a slightly higher price), or point you to someone who might have one. And if you buy and pay for this auction, and THEN tell me that you don't have a charger to repair, there would be a $3 processing fee for me to refund all your money (minus the $3 processing fee, of course). "Time is Money", they say, and one thing I DO NOT have a lot of, is time!!
The 18V charger on this auction is used for the Coleman batteries with model numbers of CMD8191, PMD8131BAT-PR, the GREEN battery with just the Coleman name on it and "#166", and the black battery which have NO Coleman name but instead have "Interchangeable Battery System, Ni-Cd battery, 18V" listed on it.
I can also sometimes repair the 18 volt 1-hour charger sold under the Coleman name (Model PMD8146 / PA1801 for the PMD8131BAT / BA1801 battery), as well as the chargers for the 12V, 14.4V, 19.2V and 21.6V (volt) Coleman fast and slow chargers. Contact me via the instructions in the paragraph above this one for details.
NOTE: I cannot repair your charger if it is missing parts, or missing pieces of the plastic housings. I have been sent chargers where the battery portion looks as if it were run over by a car (well, OK, not quite THAT bad, but where large pieces of plastic were gone). I can give you a working charger, if you send me something like that, but there MAY be an additional charge of a few dollars to do so.
The company that made these went out of business in 2007, so I can't buy new plastic body components (I CAN get almost any electrical or electronic component however). So what I will do is alter the components with something similar.
I may even be able to upgrade your charger from being a slow 3 to 4 hour charger (or 6 to 8 hour charger) to a fast 1-hour charger. If interested in that option (for a $5 additional fee), email me by clicking on the "Ask a question" link located in the upper right hand corner of any auction page, and I can set up a BUY-IT-NOW auction for you.
This Coleman Powermate 166 slow charger was used on the 18v Drill Sets with model numbers of PMD8129 , PMD8131 and PMD8133 . The other Coleman Combo Light and Saw sets sold (model numbers PMD8130, PMD8132, PMD8134, and PMD8135 ?) used the 18V Fast 1-hour charger which was model PMD8146. These chargers cannot be purchased any longer, but I have created a slow and fast charger that works for these drills. Contact me and I can set up a BUY-IT-NOW auction for you, if you like (see the paragraph below for details on how to contact me via email).
Drill set models of PMD8127 and PMD812 were the 12v and 14.4v versions of those drill sets, and I'm not sure which charger they used, but it MAY have been the Powermate 166 charger also. If anyone out there has any knowledge of that information as FACT, please contact me by emailing me by clicking on the "Ask a question" link located in the upper right hand corner of any auction page. I would greatly appreciate it.
FOR SHIPPING BACK JUST ONE CHARGER;
1. You can go to WWW.USPS.COM and click on “Print a Shipping Label”. There, you can create a label for Priority Mail, and pay for it ($4.80) via a credit card. Then you just print it and tape it to the box and leave it for the mailman to pick up (or hand it to him). You will get a tracking number this way, and you can track it online at the same site. This is the safest and easiest way, in my opinion.
2. You can take the box/envelope to the Post Office and pay for Priority Mail postage there ($4.95). I suggest you use this service, as you will then get a tracking number to prove you sent it and be able to prove that I received it.
3. You can take it to the Post Office and pay for Parcel Post postage there ($3.67). I suggest you get the optional 55-cent option that proves you mailed it. I can’t guarantee that I will get it, but at least you can ask them for your postage back if I don’t. That hasn’t happened yet, and I’ve been doing this for 4 years now, so it is a fairly safe way to go.
4. You can take it to DHL, FedEx or UPS to ship it, but that may be more costly, depending on where you are located in relation to me (Milwaukee, WI).
5. You can put stamps on the box/envelope in the amount of $3.67, and leave it in your mailbox for the mailman to pick up. If you trust me (see my feedback rating of 99.5% on over 6000 feedbacks), and that the post office won’t lose it, you can do this. But if I never get it, you will have no proof that you sent it or that I received it. I will only be able to refund your auction price plus the shipping, but I will have to subtract the $2.50 in fees I will have incurred from you buying the auction. So it is really best to choose options 1, 2, 3 or 4, if you want to be really safe.
6. You can buy the auction and ask me to email you a prepaid FedEx air label with tracking number and insurance included. I would have to bill you $5 additional for that service, but you will get it to me quicker, get free insurance and be able to track the shipment. For this option, email me by clicking on the link entitled "Ask seller a question", which is located in the upper right hand corner of this auction. Give me your full mailing address, and the box dimensions that you are going to ship it in.
FOR SHIPPING MORE THAN ONE CHARGER;
If you are shipping more than one charger, you CANNOT drop it on a POST OFFICE mailbox, as it will be returned to you (they have a 13 ounce limit for packages put into a Post Office mail box, and 13 ounces is what one charger weighs in a box or small envelope!). If you know the exact weight, you can use option 1, and if not, you will have to take the box/envelope to the post office, DHL, FedEx or UPS to ship it.
If you ever burn out this repaired charger, simply send it back to me, along with a payment of 11.99 to cover the cost of shipping and handling, and I will send you another repaired charger. Let's see any OTHER seller offer a warranty like THAT!!
Shipping is always via either USPS 2-3 day Priority Mail, or FedEx 2-3 day air (either way, you get the tracking number emailed to you). My auctions are shipped out almost every day of the week, unless something unusual comes up, in which case they will be shipped out the following day. Never does it take more than two days for me to ship an item. Overnight service is available also, for an additional fee (see the shipping section below for info on that).
Overnight FedEx service is available;
I usually only ship via Priority mail, but FedEx overnight service is available for an additional charge. If you want guaranteed next-day service, just choose that option when you pay (you'll have to use the drop-down box to select NEXT DAY/Overnight shipping. Be sure to give me a NON-PO box address if you want next day service, since FedEx cannot deliver to PO boxes (yet!). I was told that they are in negotiations with them to provide this service now.
I must charge STATE sales tax of 5.6% on shipments to Wisconsin locations (or items picked up in Milwaukee). There are no additional shipping or handling fees to pick this item up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin other than the sales tax of 5.6%.
Please give me a CORRECT address and your phone number!!
If the Post Office cannot locate your address, the kit will be returned to me. If this happens, I can either refund your auction payment (minus the original shipping fee, the return shipment delivery fee if any, the eBay listing fee, the selling auction fee and the PayPal fees if any), or I can ship it to another address if you pay another shipping fee of $4.99. So it is a good idea to provide me with your phone number in case I need to contact you. It is also a good idea to be sure your email and physical addresses on your PayPal and eBay accounts are correct and up to date.
I ***WILL*** combine shipping!
If you would like more than one of an item on an auction, or win more than one of my auctions, just contact me by clicking on the "Ask Seller a Question" link in the upper right-hand portion of this auction page.
Canada and Mexico shipments:
If you do not choose the international priority mail option, then I cannot guarantee you will get the package in Canada or Mexico. So if you want a guarantee, use the international priority mail option. Mexico pays the same priority mail price as Canada, but eBay won't allow that option to be entered in addition to the ones I have shown. Sorry!
I only accept PayPal, per eBay’s new rules. But you can easily pay via PayPal with your checking account, Visa or Mastercard through Paypal also. WI residents will be required to pay 5.6% State sales tax. Free Pick Up in Milwaukee, WI. Email me by clicking on the link entitled "Ask seller a question" located in the upper right-hand corner of this auction page if you want to make other arrangements. Please pay within 7 days.
I will ONLY leave feedback after feedback has been left for me. Too often I have been threatened with negative feedback after I have left positive feedback in advance. Sorry about that, but it is what ALL the savvy sellers on eBay do!
WARNING ONE! Beware of “FIX YOUR BATTERY PACK” auctions on eBay!!!!!!!!
I have had numerous buyers tell me horror stories of auctions that purchased for information on how to fix their defective battery packs. 1) You can replace NiCad cells that are bad, BUT YOU CAN’T SOLDER THEM! Heat is NOT a friend to a NiCad cell… it makes their life MUCH shorter if exposed to excessive heat. They must be fusion welded, which produces virtually no heat. Fusion welders are VERY expensive! 2) Yes, there is a trick that you can apply a high voltage to a cell to “shock” it into pretending to be good again, BUT THIS IS A VERY TEMPORARY SOLUTION! The cell will very quickly revert back to its defective status in only a day or two usually.
WARNING TWO! Be kind to your NiCad batteries, and they will last a long time!!!!!!!!
Follow the manufacturer’s recommendations. For Skil, this mean you NEVER leave your battery pack charging on a 3-hour charger for more than 5 hours (5 hours is needed to charge a battery fully if it has not been charged in a while)! Those 3-hour chargers constantly charge at .25 amps, even when fully charged. All that does is heat up the cells, and remember, heat is NOT a friend of the NiCad cell (see the below section on 1-hour chargers)! It will make the life of your battery pack much shorter. If at all possible, buy a timer and set it to be on for only 3 to 5 hours. You will get much longer life out of the battery pack that way.
You can leave your battery pack on a 1-hour SMART charger for a longer period, since it reverts to a trickle charge once fully charged. But you should still remove it if possible after fully charged, to preserve the life of the battery. See the next section for information about Skil 1-hour chargers.
