A Chronicle of a Death Foretold by Gabriel Garcia Marquez disappointed me. While I was reading it, I noticed I was feeling no suspense or anticipation. This is most likely due to the fact that I already that Santiago was going to get murdered. The reader finds this out within the first few pages. The reader also finds out WHO kills him and WHY within the first 30 some pages. I felt like I was reading a police report. Another thing I didn't like was how wordy it was, and how many unimportant details I came across. There were so many things that I read that were so unnecessary. One thing that I did like in A Chronicle of A Death Foretold was the interesting characters. There were a LOT of characters, and it was hard to keep track of, but they all had very distinctive personalities and qualities. It was nice to think about the idea of living in the type of close-knit community that they live in as well. I found myself day dreaming about this in between pages. Over all, the plot was okay. It was an decent story and had a beginning, middle and an end, but it just didn't completely meet my standards.Read full review
For only $3 this is very much worth the time to read although it be a bit convoluted at times
