I have an EXCELLENT (9/10 to be safe) condition Cayin A-50T integrated tube amplifier for sale. You probably know what this is if you are looking at it. If you don't, look for reviews; it has gotten nothing but extreme praise from reviewers and forum users, and is extremely rare, especially in the United States. I literally STALKED eBay and Audiogon for almost a year before getting this amplifier. This baby includes 4 like-new Cayin power tubes (Shuguang) and 2 BRAND NEW 12AX7 and 2 BRAND NEW 12AU7 for the preamp tube section. This unit feels and looks beautiful, is all metal with gold jacks, and fully point-to-point wired. It gets very loud clips nicely. One of the best and most unique features about this amplifier is that you can switch between Triode mode and Ultralinear (Push-Pull) using the included remote.
I am asking $1200, which is an extremely good deal, but I will accept offers (and trades). I can throw in $50 Autoranging Radio Shack Multi Meter possibly. You'll also get all the original accessories tube cage, remote, power cord , white gloves. and copy of manual.
I would trade this for a Peachtree220, or a pair of KEF 300's, or a recent Nuforce amp, (or a Fender Jaguar 50th Anniversary or Johnny Marr), but I'll hear anything else you have in mind.
I'll try to post pictures later but I'll email you pictures if you ask that I can take my smartphone. I have it sitting on top of a Peachtree NovaPre and this classic beauty makes the Peachtree look like a toy. I have it powering a pair of Definitive Technology Mythos ST's and it sounds amazing. The Cayin A-50T is what the owner/designer of the Def Tech speakers users in his own home audio system. If you buy the amplifier, you can the Def Tech Mythos ST's for $1850 (but I will accept offers). They are reference-quality tower speakers that retail for $4000 a pair and are rare used. They are well matched for the Cayin because they have integrated powered subwoofers.
I could be convinced to cover Paypal fees and such.
Lemme know if you have any questions.
Honestly I feel like I should hold onto this amplifier for the rest of my life but I have to be prepared to move a lot and it's a little hefty for that, what with that super-great build quality and all (40lbs, mostly in the iron-core power transformers, which are choke filtered), also I am looking more for a separates-based system for home theater. If you want tubes, THIS IS IT.
I love the EL34 tube it's affordable has that famous EL34 midrange. You can't go wrong with the A-50T it's that good! I've been into tubes a while now and started with the affordable stuff like Jolida 302B , Antique Electronic Supply, Cheap mass produced Circuit board tube amps, then I bought more expensive amps like Rogue, Eastern Electric, Cary, Almarro, etc.I also tried other tubes like the KT88 and 6550, 6C33, and EL84. Currently I own two EL34 amps , An EL84 amp and one that can bias 6L6, EL34, 6550 KT88, etc. Still I'd have to say that the EL34 is my Favorite All Around Tube. And the Cayin A-50T is the finest EL34 amp Under $1500. The list on this amp is at $1300 in most reviews but these reviews are a few years old now. I've seen it listed at $1400-1500 new, lately. See the extraordinary build quality and wire dressing, the Nichicon capacitors, the alps blue velvet motorized volume pot, WBT style insulated binding posts, real cap coupling caps, choke filtered power supply for low noise. Cayin was started by a group of Chinese Engineers who designed airplanes and were also passionate audiophiles. Their first big hit was the Cayin TA30 a truly beautifull amplifier in champagne gold, I don't think anyone had ever seen or heard an amp so beautifull, not at the price anyway, the point to point wiring was better than amps costing quite a bit more, the solder joints and wire dressing was immaculate. The only flaw or quirk to the amp was you had to remove the bottom cover and bias the amp powered on upside down!I think the amp sold for $700 then. You'd have had to spend two grand to find an amp as well made and good sounding as the TA30. Kevin Deal who founded Upscale Audio bought the rights to the Cayin TA30 chassis and created the company Primaluna and a very successfull line of amps based on the TA30 called the Prologue line.He enlisted the help of his friend Herman Van Der Dungen ,of Ah! audio fame, to add an adaptive auto bias circuit and made futher refinements to improve the TA30. But I owned a TA30 and bought a Prologue 2 when they came out and the Prologue 2 is definitely a much improved amp, at twice the cost, and with the same power tubes they sound pretty much the same to me( as in both sound excellent). Cayin amps are still built to the same standard as the TA30 with improvements like top mounted bias pots , remote control , and switchable from Triode to Ultralinear modes of operation on the fly.I think the A-50T is even more of a classic tube amplifier than the TA30 and that's the highest praise I can say about the A-50T.
