This show just gets better. The third series has just started on US TV and its easy to see why. With any detective serial you are trying to guess who is guilty and the series brings new twists to the familiar genre. Its more than that, there is the romantic interplay as in Moonlighting, to which it has been compared or even the Thin Man film franchise from the 30's. There is the comic element from Castle's mom and a touch of family matters with the father and teenage daughter dynamic. Its all good fun and as ever its the clever writers who create it but the actors who deliver the performance which we all enjoy and to them all thanks are due. As a thought, do the aerial city film shots seem sharper and more vivid? They seem clearer, more realistic, as you find in a nature program and I don't have the HD version just a regular DVD player. Put your feet up, tune in and be entertained, you will not be disappointed.Read full review
My wife and I have always enjoyed detective stories, whether they are Film Noir, or a good TV series. It's rare to find a TV series that has intelligent scripts, challenging plots, a strong cast, and solid acting. Castle has all of this. The writing is top-notch, with six strongly developed, complex and entertaining characters. Rick Castle and detective Beckett have the best chemistry between male and female leads I've see in a long time on TV or theater screens. You can't write chemistry like they have, and the humor is endlessly inventive. The two other detectives in the precinct carry more than their share of the storyline, and the interaction between the four of them is fast-paced and witty. Castle's daughter and mother add another dimension to the series, often providing a honestly-earned warmth to a sometimes brutal story line. Locations in New York City are beautifully filmed. To my taste, this is the best crime series on TV in a long, long time.Read full review
Castle, unlike other murder mystery crime shows, has a very upbeat air to it. You will laugh every episode as well as attempt to figure out the murder. The characters are original and fresh and there is a perfect balance between goofy and charming. On top of all it's other charms Castle has a little something extra: an angsty relationship between the two main characters that doesn't grow cold. Castle and Beckett's hate love relationship is always fun to watch and will leave you wanting more. I highly recommend every season of Castle to those who like murder mystery, comedy, and just a little bit of sweet romance.
Why did I decide to buy Castle Season 2? I didn't decide so much as I HAD TO HAVE IT. I got hooked in the middle of Season 2 while it was "live" so I couldn't wait any longer to see what episodes I had missed. And it didn't disappoint. This season has some of the best episodes of the show and a great season finale. Rick Castle is irresistibly adorable and Beckett is fabulously sarcastic. They work so well together...and when will they finally get together??!! I'm sure it's killing all of us. While Season 1 was great, this season is 10 times better. You will NOT regret getting it!
One of the best TV shows ever produced about Detectives, Family Drama, Un-Expecting Humor, Love Finding a way against all ODDS...I can go on but if you haven't started watching this 8 season series, I don't know what your waiting for!
