Product Description
This listing is for a Carver A-760 Power Amplifier that sounds fantastic. Manufactured in the USA in the late 1990s the A-760x is one of the most powerful and best sounding amplifiers the brilliant Bob Carver ever produced. This "Magnified Current" amplifier shares much of the DNA of Bob's Lightstar Reference Amp.
The amp works perfectly, with tremendous power, no audible hum or noise. It is the best sounding amp I have ever used in my system (nothing like gobs of clean power to make your speakers sing). The am is not mint/perfect. There are dings and bumps I will describe. The amp, and the classy illumintated power meters, do work perfectly.
| To design the A-760x Bob Carver's engineering team drew on the design of his acclaimed Lightstar Reference amplifier, a development hailed by "Fi" magazine as "evidence that Carver Corporation has made a strong commitment to first-rate build quality as well as to engineering innovation." The A-760x uses Carver's "Magnified Current" technolgy. This enables the A-760x to provide either twice the continuous voltage or twice the continuous current needed by the loudspeaker load at any given time. With more than enough current and voltage-peak or continuous- the Lightstar-inspired A-760x is the ultimate consumer amplifier. |

CONDITION NOTES: The amplifier looks very good from the front with perfect illuminated meters and only slight dings to the top edge of the brushed aluminum faceplate. However, there are dings on the top, back, and bottom caused by shipping damage when I purchased the amp off eBay 3 years ago. The top chassis has a couple of minor dings pointed out in the photo. The rear right top corner of the amp has a slight bruse, and the positive right speaker connector is slightly bent and bruised. This does not hinder its function at all. The right rear output adjustment knob is missing. It is set to full THX specification output, and could be adjusted with a small screwdriver if you wanted to change that. The bottom underneath has a few dings shown in the photo. The heavy power transformer had loosened during shipment to me, so the original tie down screws were replaced with larger ones. Everything works perfectly and I have had no issues at all over my years of ownership. I have included photos of everything. Please ask if you have questions.
SHIPPING NOTE: To guarantee safe arrival I will have the amplifier professionally packed as is suited to its 40 plus pound weight. I have added $60 to the shipping cost to cover this. $60 is the minimum the shipper said they will charge me, I will cover the rest. The rest of your shipping charge covers shipment to you. No extra handling fees have been added.
