Up graded from the 40D, although they may seem similar they are not..this camera may take a bit more to get set up, but after you have figured it out, you will be taking pictures that make you look like a professional photographer. I recommend this for anyone looking to move to the next level.

Love buying discontinued cameras. Great cameras at awesome prices.
A tad on the heavy side, but I think the weight tells me it is solid. A great camera, all around. The amount of settings that the 7D has, is incredible. You can do, pretty much anything you want with this camera. Love it.
I absolutely love my camera so far. I was willing to get a heavier camera in exchange for tons of features. This is a heavy camera, but that is what i expected and wanted. Canon makes other similar cameras (same sensor, other identical components) but i decided on the 7d for because it doesn't feel like a cheap plastic toy, it is extremely fast and the small differences really add up to a big quality difference. I decided that i was going to get the kit lens and the lens is mediocre, but the lens can be changed. Most of what i do is low light work and you can just see the difference between the shots this camera takes and what my pentax k10d would churn out. I have a tendency of going through about 40 gigs of photos in a night without erasing until post process. The learning curve is somewhat steep because you basically design your own settings. don't order this if you need portrait mode and landscape mode unless you know how to set them up yourself. I would recommend this as a great prosumer camera, but you will quickly want a nicer lens to go with such a powerful body
Thanks for coming in to read my review. I purchased 7D to upgrade from my 500D. I sold my 500D and put some more and bought this wonderful "art of machine". Let me call this as "a machine with mind". I like the "control" it offers to our creative side. I'm not a full time photo professional, however photo is serious to me. Many features of 7D is quite wonderful that you'll love to use. Say, Wireless Flash fire, Electronic Level, etc. The "switch-controls" on this machine is quite facilitating and will give you ease to control it very quickly. Sure for a person who migrate from XXXD series, they'll find it bit difficult to start with. It's because, as you all might read in many reviews of 7D that the "learning curve" for 7D is bit higher. I'm still learning.....hence will come-back with my understanding later. Still let me wrap-up.....if you are serious in your pursuit on photography, ..go for this machine.....you'll never regret... See you again ... and once again thanks for being with till the end of write-up... jairaj email@example.com
