Excellent deal on an iconic book. I have seen the Tutankhamun treasures on exhibit twice--once at The Metropolitan Museum in New York and once in Cairo. This book weaves together the fascinating story of the discovery of the ancient treasures with their historic significance and, as a bonus, the gorgeous color photos bring all the memories back for me. This hardcover version replaces the softcover copy I lost in a move some years ago.

Though no book is truely a complete examination of the tomb and its contents, Reeves has done an excellent job. This is not an exhaustive study (as the title implies). This volume, though, is filled with color and black & white photos, line drawings, lists and tables of every room in the tomb. Wine, clothes, boxes, jewelry, statues, seal impressions, ritual devices, etc., are well documented with Howard Carter's original catalog numbers. How the tomb was found, its archaeology, Tut's family line, newspaper articles at the time of discovery, letters and diagrams puts this volume on every Egyptophile's "must have" list. It's a fun photographic and historic look at many tomb articles not normally seen in other books on Tut.
This was a replacement book for my mother. Hers got water damaged. She is soooo happy to have a new one The book was in exceptional condtion.

This is the nicest book that I've ever read about the Discovery of Tutankhamen's burial site. Great photos and drawings. Additional information is given regarding his probable history as well as other famous pharoah's and queens burial chambers nearby. A Very good reference book for those interested in Egyptology.
