If you want to learn how to manufacture shells / cartridges, both brass and paper and all the components thereof ... shells, powder, tooling, bullets, casings, wadding, packing, primers, etc. this is the book
you need.

No it is not about the chemistry, it is about the mechanics and machinery and process of making cartridges.

how to machine and assemble them efficiently and with quality that is high and repeatable.

Exact dimensions on shells and cartridges are given for some cartridges along with their complete
manufacturing process and tooling.

If you are interested in these historical cartridges, this is a lifesaver as dimensions and process is
otherwise lost in the mists of time. (well in the late 1800's and early 1900's but far enough back

I expected to be a bit bored but instead found myself fascinated and learning new things about methods
again and again and again, for instance, did you know that a shot drop tower (to make lead shot) needs to be
as much as 200 feet or more tall just to ensure that the hot molten shot is both round enough (surface tension)
and cool enough not to flatten , when it hits the cooling water at the bottom of the tower and that for
each size of plate (round holes) that the lead is dripping thru at the top of the tower, there is an exact
pressure or depth to ladle the lead on so that it comes out the hole as circular as possible when it drips. WOW.

Hundreds of little things that I never knew, since in many cases I never knew the exact steps in many of these
manufacturing processes.

Fired many hundreds of thousands of rounds / cartridges in my life at the gun range and never knew how they
were made in detail till now.

Whether you are a historian, or a gun buff, or actually interested in manufacturing cartridges, or a gun collector
who wants to accurately size cartridges for his collection, or a forensic lab wanting to identify old cartridges,
this is a great book on CD ROM to have.

User friendly PDF file format, the CD is Microsoft Windows as well as MAC compatible.
