Please have a heart and spay or neuter your 4 legged friends (just to be sure we're communicating I mean your dogs or cats). This is a public service announcement, nothing to do with the listing.  Good day.

Meteorites contain Nickel, if you have nickel allergies or issues use appropriate precautions. Always practice good hygiene, wash hands after handling. Please see buyer restrictions and notes at the bottom of the listing.

Last dig for 2011: 155lb and ~200lb Brenham Pallasites: (working on some new vids for 2012)

Our meteorite museum => (world's largest collection of brenham meteorites and still growing.  Links are included to show we are not some fly-by-night sellers operating out of a basement.  We only sell on eBay and from our brick and mortar store in the Brenham strew field).

Approximate size and weight:  30gm part slice, 4.5cm x 4cm x 0.35cm thick.  Polished to 600 grit both sides, this is NOT our usual mirror finish. NO translucent crystals.  Edge is cut and fracture. Coated with paste wax.  Hand signed specimen card included (not a photocopy, print, picture, ..., of a signature) with a guarantee of authenticity.

In General: Brenham stony-iron pallasite meteorite, mixture of metal (~90% iron & 10% nickel) and olivine (iron, nickel & magnesium silicates, red to orange fayalite (oxide form), green forsterite/peridot).  Some Brenham meteorites present as olivine poor iron with a medium octahedrite structure.  The pal structure is the most common, iron is next and the least common are Brenham specimens with both pal and iron structures present.

Please Note:  The pictures are taken outside, usually in the sun.  The stone (olivine) part of the meteorite has a green/yellow/brown/orange color or combinations thereof. The metal part of the meteorite is silver like a mirror. Depending on the surroundings it can appear to have different colors, for example, if there is a blue sky it can appear blue, the reflection of my hand holding the camera will make it appear tan, reflection of my purple gloved hand, yep, purple.  but wait there's more:

Meteorites are exotic materials from space, a place where oxygen and water are scarce when compared to Earth.  I can not guarantee the stability of meteorites in the Earth’s atmosphere, can not change the laws of physics, will not claim it is possible.  Iron can rust, crystals can oxidize, you can only slow the rate of reaction in the Earth’s atmosphere (~21% oxygen) and the polymer coating helps in this regard.  If you do not understand the curation of meteorites then please do not purchase the material.  To use an analogy, we are happy to sell you a car but teaching you how to drive is beyond the scope of the transaction.

NOTE: Please do not use oxygen absorber packets in an attempt to preserve the pallasite.  Superficially this sounds good but be aware the packets contain iron power, salt and water.  When oxygen is present the iron in the packet begins to rust and the reaction results in the release of water and sometimes salt which can transfer to the specimen, you might as well take it for a swim in the ocean. (oh yes, forgot to mention, water contains oxygen, h2o no).  A nitrogen blanket is a better method to remove oxygen as you can keep the humidity very low.

NOTE: Lot of questions lately from parents considering a piece of Brenham meteorite for their kids, here is an amalgam of my replies:  The minimum storage requirements are low humidity.  If you are in a humid area an air tight container with a powerful desiccant is recommended.  If rusting occurs the material needs to be refinished, rust removed, the slice dried and re-coated.  Meteorite curation  requires effort, especially pallasites, irons, and fresh falls as the material can degrade.  There are no radiation risks I am aware of, accidentally swallowing the material would be my biggest concern for children.  The sliced pallasite material is fragile and can break if dropped or bent, sharp edges will result.   So I do not recommend the material for children.  I can't put an age here, we have a lot of kids come to the museum, a few are more mature than some of the adults.  You will have to decide for your own kids.  Perhaps I'm overly cautious but that seems better than the alternative.  Thank you for asking, my guess is your kids are in very good hands having a parent concerned enough to ask.  And remember: Sold only as a specimen for display.

We do not belong to IMCA, authenticity is necessary but not sufficient.   Did you know IMCA members purchase and re-sell our materials?  Why not?  Authenticity of the meteorite in this auction is guaranteed along with complete satisfaction from a guy that has found over 9,000lbs of Brenham meteorite and the largest pallasite impact in the United States.   We find meteorites, import, export, cut, polish by hand, market, sell and operate a museum.  We very much appreciate your support and the export sales during difficult economic times.

Don't like your purchase?  Return for refund, no questions asked.

Sold only as a specimen for display. (Why? Because I have no idea what you might want to do after purchase.  It is up to you to determine if a different use is suitable).

Ebay asks me: "Other things you'd like buyers to know" but apparently eBay does not tell you until it is too late!
