The 2006 Braun 89xx Series shavers was their best production run of shavers, ever. The succeeding 2008 Braun Series 5/7/9 all had failures with the pop-up trimmers, as the 89xx slide-up trimmers were far superior. Also, the ineffective, hyped Pulsonic beard stimulator was Proctor & Gamble's weak attempt at commanding higher prices for an inferior product. The 89xx shavers all used a 10,000rpm Siemens motor and the overall quality can be felt just by holding it. I borrowed a Series 7 Pulsonic(9595) and was shocked at learning it now uses an expensive "cassette-type" head assembly now. At nearly $70 - that's way too many moving parts to fail. The 8995 has a toggled LCD display which is more informative than the 9595. The battery in the 8995 is also much better, lasting 10-12 shaves unplugged....impressive, for a 10-year old shaver! I own several of these 8000 Braun shavers. The LCD models are the fanciest and priciest. The Activator, 360 Complete and Series 5 (8000 models, before the design change) are all the same mechanically and the best for my money. The construction is solidly German-made. Braun shifted to a sleeker ergonomic design after the 8000 shavers. Some shavers are wet/dry, others in the premium line Series 7 have "pulsonic" technology that is supposed to lift facial hair better. Since I get superbly close shaves with my 8000 models, I cannot see where "upgrading" to the 7 Series is necessary or even as good. I also don't want to shave in the shower. The 8000 shavers are not for the shower and shave best before you shower when the skin is dry and tight. I highly recommend the 8995 360 Complete shaver and all shavers with or without LCD in this series.Read full review
I recently purchased this Braun 360 8995 Electric Shaver. I was really set on purchasing the new Series 7 790cc model because of all the rave reviews it was getting. After doing some exhausting research from previous 8995 owners who upgraded to the 790, they said they could tell virtually no difference between the 790 and the 8995 in performance. I purchased the 8995 for $200 less then I would have paid for the 790. I use it daily and just love it! I get the closest shave ever as compared to any other electric shaver I have used. I would buy another 8995 in a heartbeat. One happy Braun customer.
Product in great shape, looked new (slightly used, looks like just taken out of box never used). replaced my Bran360 unit 6yrs old needed replacement. Very happy I just put in place of old one and nothing changed jusrt keep using it. happy I could find what I wanted, as Bran 360 no longer sold.

Best electric razor ever. The shave is almost as smooth as using a blade. And much, much better than several previous shavers. I thought the cleaner/charger apparatus would be simply a gimmick, but it really works quite nicely. Braun recommends that you use the cleaner after every shave but that seems wasteful and expensive. I use it after every third shave and can see no problems. I also cap the reservoir between uses to prevent evaporation. If you buy this shaver you will love it.
