I get the feeling that the movie and the scriptwere produced in a week. The best part is played by Woody Harrelson, a wacko convict who is released to help the two scoundrels. Otherwise, you can skip this movie unless you get it REALLY cheap and have time to kill.

The title of the review is enough to give away what kind of commentary will be featured in this film. Then again, David Mamet did co-write the screenplay. And it features some underrated turns including from Willie Nelson, whose character performs an in-universe Dude, NOT Funny moment. This film features a producer hired to take America's attention away from the President's latest scandal. (Like that'll be hard to do nowadays.) Along the way, he will meet an outrageous cast of characters (Willie Nelson's character being one of them). But will he come out of this situation with his integrity and soul intact? Or will it become cynical and moralless like several of this movie's characters?

I liked the way the producer and press secretary scammed the CIA and everyone else. Brilliant thinking. I bought it to see how the sex scandal related to President Clinton and how starting a war turned the president's image/ratings around. Language was a little rough for me but was pretty appropriate for the characters. I wouldn't want my kids to see it,for example.
When you decide to find a copy of a film like "wag the Dog" years after its release, hit and miss is your chance of finding it. Wasted time combing through bargain bins and wasted gas, make this (e-bay) a no brainer. What I wanted, at my door at a great price in less time than finding it on the open market.
