Paul Voigt (1859 Berlin - 1924 Berlin), Professor: German copper engraver, graphic designer and printmaker in Berlin, Director of the "Reichsdruckerei" [Imperial Printing Office]. At the Reichsdruckerei Voigt supervised the printing of German banknotes, postal and fiscal stamps, bonds and shares, certificates and other state documents and all the many other state froms and official stationery. He was a renowned copper engraver and lithographer and lectures on the art of printing at the Berlin Academy. Prof. Voigt belongs among a few others like Joseph Sattler, Georg Otto, etc. to the leading bookplate artists at the end of the 19th century who introduced a new pictorial, more narrative and artistic style, replacing the traditional pure heraldic exlibris designs.
