The faces on standard wedges wear out very quickly, and a pro on tour will replace wedges every four or five weeks. The edge of the score lines control spin, and the breakdown of the milling there equals loss of control.
Under a microscope, the milling on a sandblasted wedge looks like the surface of the moon. The milling on Jesses wedge looks like 10,000 symmetrical saw teeth. This gives you ultimate control.
The wedges incorporate a face insert that has a material chosen to maintain its integrity for up to 10,000 shots.
The wedge maintains the feel of a classic wedge by the addition of a 3M bonding membrane placed behind the face insert. When heated, the membraneproduces a bond stronger than a metal weld, but it retains its characteristic sponginess for natural feel and playability. Its like a perimeter-weighted wedge but with a classic look.
The body of the wedge head is Stainless 302 steel, a very soft stainless to help absorb shock and to allow players to bend the neck. The body features a frosted, glass-beaded finish.
Jesse hollowed out the area behind the face insert, allowing the muscle to be deeper and thicker. This lowers the center of gravity on the club, which makes for a higher ball flight and softer landings.
The Femco Steel Shaft is made by the same company that makes the KB Tour shafts (KB is by Kim Braly, creator of Project X and Rifle shafts).
