These Blank Gun Stocks are truly an amazing find. Do you ever watch the show on the History Channel, "The American Pickers"? Well I'm not part of that show or affiliated with it in any way. But I did come across an amazing find that would fit right in. This is the story.
The Blank Rifle, Shot Gun (Butt and Fore-stock) and Musket blanks which I am selling were cut from some of, if not the best, Black Walnut, Cherry, and Maple trees in North America. The trees I talk about were grown and farmed in Morgan County, Ohio. These stocks are a product from the Jeffers' Tree Farm. The 3500 acre farm is ran today as a vacation, hunting, fishing, camping paradise for the outdoors-man. Harold Jeffers Started the tree Farm with his wife in 1948. They started raising and farming trees of many varieties. Black Walnut, Cherry, and Maple were among the trees that thrived and produced some of the best quality trees and wood products in North America. Harold Jeffers enjoyed cutting rifle, shot gun, and musket stock blanks from the trees which he had raised and actually made finished gun stocks from a large gun stock duplicating machine. Harold Jeffers was quite the master when it came to growing trees and harvesting them for many uses. In fact Harold Jeffers is the only tree farmer ever to be inducted into the State of Ohio, Department of Natural Resources, Hall of Fame. These blank stocks were cut in 1965 by Harold Jeffers. At the time they were cut, the stocks were either dipped in wax to prevent checking, or they were treated with polyethylgycol to preserve the wood and prevent checking. They were placed in storage and air dried for 46 years. These blank stocks are flat, no checking, and planed. All of the socks have been graded by a Forestry Graduate. The grading scale runs from 1 to 5 with 5 being the highest grade. All of my stocks are graded 3,4,or 5. I have no low quality stocks. For the true craftsman who enjoys carving they're own masterpiece, look no further if your looking for a quality piece, aged and air-dried an amazing 46 years, and beautiful American Black Walnut, Cherry, or Maple. Own a true piece of American History, for that is what it really is. All of my stocks are listed at one price for there are no bad ones, so it's just all about what you like.
