I do not recommend buying the Bernzomatic TS4000 torch. However, I do highly recommend buying the Bernzomatic TS8000 torch. The 4000 does not have a throttle adjustment; you just light it and it burns wide open. The TS8000 costs just a few dollars more and the flame it totally adjustable. Not only that, but the torch tip is larger and burns much hotter than the TS4000. Spend the extra bucks and you will not be sorry.

I have had several of these they seem to be the most well constructed of all the self lighting torches that i've used, I am glad they got rid of the breakoff cuts around the intake holes I used to break them off all the time there but I have never found a torch that lasted more than a year of any style that the ignition source hasn't failed, I use them a lot soldering copper sweat fittings.

These things are the ultimate in trigger start hand held propane torches. I've used my original one for a LEAST 25 years, and it gave out. This one I purchased is LIKE NEW and works perfectly. I was SO glad to be able to still buy it at this terrific price ! I use them for everything to starting leaf and stick fires to automotive use to heat up that stubborn bolt that doesn't want to come off without breaking.

This is the first Bernz-O-Matic self-igniting propane gas torch, but the third such gas torch I have owned. This torch is superior to the other two in every way possible from quality to price. I never intend to own any other brand torch than Bernz-O-Matic IF I ever need to replace this one. Just thread it onto the canister snugly (there will not be any gas leak while doing so, as with other torches) flip the switch to the "unlock" position and squeeze the trigger (the red button) and you have a flaming torch. Let go of the trigger and both the flame and the gas are off. Put the switch in the "lock" position and that's it.
