You do have actual human neighbors up here, besides the squirrels, scrub jays and raccoons. Think snow in the winter, pine tree aroma in the spring, the outdoor life in the summer and fall. This wooded land is about a mile east of Donovan Reservoir, a part of the California Pines development. Fortunately, the land is not within California Pines so it is not subject to the costs and fees associated with that subdivision. It is about 5 miles west of Highway 395, and about 8 miles southwest of Alturas.

Too bad I don't have Eric Estrada to tell you - like the TV commercials that used to offer lots in the California Pines subdivision for $20,000 or more - just how great this northernmost part of California really is. Sorry, I am not going to fly you up there, wine and dine you, pay for your hotel room, and all that... in return you get a 0.96+ acre for $3,950 instead of $20,000-plus.

But I think if you showed up at the California Pines facilities to eat, drink, or play, they would take your money for sure.
