I've been a Beatles fan for a long time and have a small collection of Yellow Submarine gear. I still have this in the box, and I'll just add it to my collection. I'd recommend this to anyone who enjoyed the movie or The Beatles music!

Have to be Beatles fan to really like this , animation on this not that good , voices for the Beatles cartoon characters are not the Beatles themselves , at end is short live video clip of the Beatles . Saw this many years ago , didn't remember it being this bad .

First of all; I am a HUGE and LIFELONG (almost) Beatles Fan. I was 14 years old when the Fab Four invaded our American Shores and I was hooked as soon as I bought my first '45 RPM record' of I WANT TO HOLD YOUR HAND. This silly, little cartoon is brilliant because of its simplicity. Music is good and of course the exchanges of conversation between the various Beatles and how they are each depicted are interesting aspects of this animated feature. Judged by today's standards the flick would be laughable but for a true Beatles fan this is a snapshot of a different time; so its very simplicity becomes its brilliance. Is it like 'UP' or 'LION KING' or 'THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG'? Of course not! But it is a great display of the art-forms of the day and it is, after all, THE BEATLES! "Good show Lads!"Read full review
I have an 8-year old grandson who asked me where my copy of "Yellow Submarine" is. That's all I need to say. I own it because it's a great document of my favorite band as they went through their psychedelic phase. But, for my grandson to embrace "Yellow Submarine" (asking for me to put it on & let him watch it) just shows you how it's become a multi-generational classic. But, it's not exclusively for the kids. Walk by the TV while the musical segments are playing & you'll still be there, three minutes later, probably singing along.

As a child, I was lucky to catch this film on TV once every two - three years... until cable TV took over. Now I can't seem to locate Yellow Submarine on any of the 500+ channels out there. I remembered it so vividly as a lighthearted introduction into the Beatles, as it features a healthy dose of their solid hits. As an adult, I missed the opportunity to purchase this on DVD when it was available and regret not doing so before needing to shell out 40 bucks to get it from ebay. I have two children now, 11 and 5 who are beside themselves with Beatlemania due to this film. My daughter is a total Paul addict, while my son has found his groove in John's early rock tunes. Either way, they are finding themselves connecting with their mum and dad in a way they hadn't expected. Now if I could just get my mother to share a few stories of her attempts to meet Ringo without giving them the idea that chasing teen idols is OK. 8) If you are impatient like me, bid away by all means! If you can wait a few years, you know this will be available on HD DVD soon enough.Read full review
