Bear McCreary just keeps getting better and better with each new Battlestar Galactica album that comes out. I already have three prior albums (miniseries, Season 1 and Season 2) and had to add this one to my collection as well. In the time since I purchased this album, I have also purchased the Season 4 two-disc set, which I also highly recommend. The music is fantastic, and keeps with Bear's practice of varying tempos and instrumental mix. Track number 4, "Storming New Caprica", starts softly and then thunders through over seven minutes of musical action. Other fantastic tracks see old themes revisited, such as "Wander My Friends" appearing in "Admiral and Commander", when Admiral Adama is preparing to take Galactica back to New Caprica, leaving Commander Lee Adama in command of Pegasus and the rest of the fleet. And the final track, "All Along The Watchtower", features lyrics and music by Bob Dylan. If you watched the series on the SciFi Channel (or SyFy as they call it now), then you know what an integral part the music played in the show. Buy this album, and the others in the series. You won't be dissapointed.Read full review
If you haven’t had a chance to pick up any of the newer Battlestar Galactica (BSG) CDs from the 2003-current SciFi series TV show, you are definitely missing out! ALL of these CDs have been *amazing* (there are 4 out now, the 2003 mini-series, and one for Seasons One, Two, and Three respectively). Richard Gibbs composed the very first music/CD, and after that Bear McCreary has composed the rest. Bear’s music is nothing short of amazing! This CD definitely speaks to that, taking his BSG compositions to a whole new level! Listening to this music takes you right back to watching the episodes!! The tracks are intense and mesmerizing, skillfully blending in a rich balance of violin, guitars, horns, percussion, and even vocals at times! (the added touch of having the vocals in Armenian is superb!). If that isn’t good enough, this CD ends right where Season Three left off - with the chilling rendition of Bob Dylan’s ‘All Along the Watchtower’ from Crossroads, Part II (where Starbuck comes back from the void!!). It’s an amazing CD to listen to over and over again!Read full review
As the seasons progress with BSG, Bear McCreedy's music just keeps getting better. This CD is an easy, stand alone listen, with not only the oriental drum influences that have become a mainstay of the action sequences of the show, but also with Celtic and rock 'n roll overtones. I highly reccomend this to fans of the show, or folks looking for something a bit different to listen to.
This album is beyond extraordinary. Bear McCreary takes the spectacularly original Battlestar Galactica Season 3 soundtrack to an entirely new level. Most of the tracks are full length and not written just for a smidgin of a scene. You will relive some of the scenes, but even more importantly, it will take you on not only an inward journey but on an adventure into the universe bounded only by the limits of your imagination. For sci fi, fantasy, and astronomy lovers, this album does the trick.
The shipping was very quick, easy transaction..the CD is perfect..(was never opened)! I love this cd, and would highly recommend the seller!
