Bass Clarinet solo CD - Andrew Grenci - Excursions
Finally, here is a CD of lyrical and virtuosic music for bass clarinet - some with piano and some unaccompanied. It was recorded at Evans Hall on the campus of Connecticut College in 2011. You will appreciate both the fine performances and the stunning recording quality. This is a brand new, skrink-wrapped disc.

The repertoire ranges from the classic "Ballade" by Bozza, through the entertaining "Two Rags" by Dykstra and the whimsical "Lone Wolf" by Youtz, to the rhythmically driving "Make it. Stop." by DeSantis. See the complete playlist below.

About the artists:

Andrew Grenci performs as a soloist and chamber musician in the USA and around the world. In 2005, he appeared as a recitalist and panelist at the first World Bass Clarinet Convention in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. He has soloed on bass clarinet and basset horn with the U.S. Coast Guard Band, and on clarinet with the Waterbury and Meriden Symphony Orchestras. As a chamber musician, he performed at International Clarinet Association conferences in Lubbock, New Orleans, and Austin, and at the World Association of Symphonic Bands and Ensembles conference in Chiayi City, Taiwan. Since 1994 Grenci holds the bass clarinet chair in the U.S. Coast Guard Band, and he is often heard in the clarinet sections of the New Haven Symphony Orchestra and other Connecticut ensembles.

Pianist William Braun made his New York debut with the singers Dawn Upshaw and Richard Lalli in two concerts given in conjunction with the Museum of Modern Art’s Vienna: 1900 exhibition. He made his Carnegie-Weill Hall debut in the premiere of Francine Trester’s Bus 66. He has appeared as concerto soloist with the Florida West Coast Symphony, the New World Symphony, and the New Haven and Waterbury Symphonies. He is also a prolific writer. Opera News magazine has published his cover profiles of the composer John Adams, the director Peter Sellars, and the singers Ian Bostridge, Dawn Upshaw, and Christine Brewer. The magazine has also published his interviews with Kiri Te Kanawa, Birgit Nilsson, Philip Glass, and Nikolaus Harnoncourt, as well as over two hundred other pieces. He earned his doctorate from Yale University in 1990.
