This early U.S. Artillery rammer sponge implement screams of Bannerman Island Arsenal. Typical of the Civil War era rammer sold by Bannerman Military Goods after the civil war.  Purchased from a well-known military collector/dealer.  Here's an opportunity to own a an original Civil War and post Civil War era artillery rammer-sponge combination implement in pretty decent condition. Good solid wood with no significant cracks or separations. It was probably used on some movie set back int he 70's.  I've consulted individuals knowledgable with US Field Artillery, and it's there opinion based on the dimensions this rammer was for a U.S. model 1857 12 Pdr. Napoleon cannon.  The bands on the rammer head are made of copper attached with screws.  Over-all length is 80.5".  More than likely civil war surplus used post civil war.  I recently learned that National Guard units were still using M1857 12 Pdr through the late 1800's.  I always figured post Civil War the 12 Pdr was pretty much obsolete.  Apparently not.  Bid plus actual shipping charges to include insurance.  Because of the odd large size shipping will cost about $45.00 depending on where you live. For this reason, I can't provide an exact shipping quote.   You wont be disappointed especially since original rammer/sponges don't show up that often on ebay.   I also have a pretty cool limber pole from an 1885 limber listed for sale.  Cool display and always a conversation piece.  Thank you.
