This book so far, has been like going back home again. These characters are ones people can grow to love. The characters are so real, so freindly, it's like going to a high school reunion and being able to catch up on all the gossip that you missed over the last few years. Debbie Macomber creates characters not only women but men can relate to. She weaves a story around such scary things like cancer and the love people fell for their family. I know I can relate to many of the characters in her books because my family, or lack there of, has experienced many of the same story lines. She is, in my opinion, just such a great writer. I try to buy and read every one of her books I can find. I loved the fact that the main character took action by herself and bought her own yarn shop. I would love to do something like this but I'm not that brave. I too, find peace in my crafts. LOVE IT! LOVE IT! Start from the beginning with The Shop on Blossom Street and make some new friends, that will feel like family once you make it to Back on Blossom Street. I can't say enough good things about Debbie Macomber books!!!!!!!!!!!Read full review
I decided to buy this book because I knit/crochet and it contains an actual pattern one can use. I met up with a lady who works in a library, she noticed I was crocheting a prayer shawl. She enlightened me about this series of books, "Back to Blossom Street", 3rd in the series, contains a knitted Prayer Shawl pattern. I like this book/series. I am not a fiction reader, but, the stories are quite touching and realiistic. They have captured my imagination and my heart. I would highly recommend this book to other women. It contains laugher, romance, hope, love and mystery. Almost like real life, giving comfort and hope to the reader also. ALSO, each book has a pattern, and the author has a web site selling pattern books. Easy reading, hard to put down. I didn't find anything to dislike, just a word of caution, it is really an ADULT fiction book, so this is the area where a library would have the books.Read full review
In the past 6 months or so, I've been reading books by Debbie Macomber. At first I was hesitant because my favorite writer is Linda Lael Miller. It was such a great find to finally read some stories like her! The I found out that Debbie and Linda are great friends as well. I've read this series with delight. You get into the character's life and feel their pain, anger, frustrations and love. If you haven't read The Shop on Blossom Street, I really recommend you start from the begining. I started with book 2 and didn't realize there was history on certain people that were in the first book. It didn't take me long to figure things out, but I wish I had started from the begining. Debbie Macomber is such an awesome writer that I get so absorbed in her stories that I can read a book in a day. That is what I did for this book (maybe more than a day and a 1/2). I love her books and I'm so happy that some of her older ones are coming out as re-prints. There is nothing that I hated about this book and I can't say there ever was a book of her's that I didn't like. I wish they were longer, but she must'nt change a thing! I bought this book because the softcover version is coming out this year (Feb. or March 2008) and I couldn't waist. I usually get softcovers, but when things get ugly....like me being without a book for a week or two, I then buy hardcovers. The person I bought it from took very good care of this copy, which I do as well with my own. If there is anyone out there that needs a new author, I suggest you try Debbie Macomber. I was hesitant at first but now I'm so happy that I gave her a chance. She is wonderful! This is all my opinions of course, but it doesn't hurt to be able to try new things. Thanks for reading my review!Read full review
Thus is a wonderful continuation in the Blossom St series. It is a must read about ordinary women dealing with life's circumstances and finding out that it is easier to handle things when you are open and honest with a few good friends. You realize that you need each other for support and or a shoulder to cry on.The women meet at a yarn store and learn to knit different things. Debbie Macomber knows how to tell a story and reaches down and touches womens souls. Each and every book I have read by this author is a delight, you feel good after and you always can't wait to read the next book by her.She is definitely one of my favorites. I got the chance to have this book signed by her May 26th in New Orleans,Louisiana at a little bookshop uptown called Garden District bookstore. She was as delightful in person and her books are a delight to read.Read full review
I have loved to read as long as I can remember. Debbie Macomber is only one of my few favorite authors. Her work is always fantastic. I have read the whole Blossom Street series and would highly suggest that anyone read it. I will warn you......it won't be easy to put down. Atleast it wasn't for me. No matter what is going I always find time to read and it's a joy to read anything that Debbie Macomber writes.
