Here's another GREAT Baby Einstein video, but this time there's a Christmas theme. Also included are some Hanukkah songs and images, but the overlying idea here is Christmas. My son loved the reindeer segments, and also the video of ornaments and moving Santa toys. However, this DVD is close to a half hour, unlike the other videos that run closer to 45 minutes. For a special holiday treat, this is a great DVD. However, you might choose one that you can watch year round instead...to get your money's worth!
I love this Baby Einstein DVD. I previously had it in VHS format. The pictures and music are beautiful. I put it on for my four-month old grandson and three-year old granddaughter when I need a few minutes of time to do something or just need some quite grandma time. I also sit and talk about the Christmas pictures and different puppets with my granddaughter to make it something we do together. It holds my infant grandson's attention. The program is beautifully orchestrated and the music is also beautiful and relaxing to listen to. You can also choose to just play the music, which I sometimes use at nap time. I highly recommend it for all who want to share some Christmas spirit with their young ones.
I purchased the DVD version of this video because my children loved the VHS version so much. I think it's a perfect way to introduce babies and toddlers to the sights and sounds of the holidays in a gentle way. I love that symbols of different faiths are represented, more or less without explanation or judgement. I love the musical selections. I especially love that there is hardly any allusion to the holidays being all about toys and presents. In this video, the holidays are about pretty lights, festive music, and all the wonderful symbols - santa, a menorah, xmas tree, reindeer, snowmen, etc. Yes, there are toys in the video, but they are shown in a low-key way, and not as a huge pile of gifts. I love this video and highly recommend it. We plan on enjoying it again throughout the holiday season and well beyond.Read full review
The name "Baby Einstein" can trick parents into believing it's okay or even good for their babies to watch it, but the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends no television AT ALL to children under 2 because so many studies have proven its harmful effects on children. Studies have shown that: - for every hour of television a baby watches a day, their chances of acquiring an attention deficit disorder increases by 10%. - among babies ages 8 months to 16 months, every hour spent daily watching programs such as 'Brainy Baby' or 'Baby Einstein' translated into six to eight fewer words in their vocabularies as compared with other children their age." - brain wave activity in babies is slower when watching television than when sleeping. "Signing Time" (Two Little Hands Productions) DVDs is an excellent option for OCCASIONAL video viewing because communicating in sign language with your child is proven to: - reduce frustration and tantrums - accelerate language development - promote parent-child bonding Last thing for new moms - carrying newborn babies (in arms or next to body) an extra 3 hours a day resulted in 40% less crying. So carrying baby in a carrier or sling can help calm fussy babies!Read full review
My son loves The Baby Einstein Products. He is able to identify the songs based from the vhs/dvds and this has certainly helped him in more ways than one. As a parent, I sit down with him and we have discussions based on what we see. Then he takes what he has learned and applies it to his basic daily skills.
