This Auction is for a: Vintage signed MORGAN DENNIS ETCHING entitled "LADY BE GOOD!"; Featuring a handsome Boston Terrier bitch, doing what the little rascals are best at - making themselves, astonishingly, as tall as your table to see what you're having for dinner.

This is an original print, and
NOT A REPRODUCTION.
The unframed print is 5.5 x 3.5 (never been cropped)". Morgan Dennis, born in Boston in 1892, was a preeminent dog illustrator for almost 60 years. And his prints have become much sought after by discerning collectors and animal lovers. He worked in pencil, pen, ink and oil, but was mainly known for his etchings. Many artists have been drawn to the subject of dogs over the centuries, but rarely have they devoted their careers to the dog world. Morgan Dennis was one of those, and he had a steady successful career, from 1915 as an artist with a Boston newspaper, to his death in 1960, having produced a shelf of popular books full of his drawings and writings.

One book Morgan wrote and illustrated, Pure Breds, is a guide to the history and characteristics of pedigreed dogs recognized by the AKC. In good condition, this etching was printed in warm black ink on high grade etching paper that still looks remarkably good today. There is evidence near the top of the print that the piece was once hinged in a mat and a faint crease accross the lower left corner which are inconsequential to the condition quality of this fine art print which is excellent. ~~~
