I want to learn how to quilt in pieces rather than the whole quilt at one time. This is the go-to book in order to learn how to do it since the author, Georgia Bonesteel, developed the technique. Years ago, she had a TV series on this topic on PBS. So far, I've only done machine quilting, and quilting a full quilt with a sewing machine can be an armful and a wrestling match. I want to avoid quilting a full quilt at one time, and this book teaches how to do it in pieces. I look forward to it.

I had originally checked this book out at our library and liked it so well, I purchased it from a seller on ebay. This book has step by step instruction on quilting from start to finish, along with templates to copy and cut from fabric. It has pictures of quilt blocks and tells you the templates you need to use to make the blocks. Also has projects including a quilted purse, quilted photo album cover, & quilted sewing machine cover. This book was printed in 1982 and does not have any rotary cutting instructions but you could take the templates and adapt them for rotary cutting. If you don't have rotary cutting equipment, this book would make it easier for you to learn to quilt with out purchasing expensive rotary cutters and matts.
I a new to quilting. I have followed her steps to buy fabric, cut and piece squares. I am now sewing a border with mitered corner per her directions. Soon I will be ready to quilt. This book shows how to quilt a quilt in 18 inch sections. I am very pleased.

The book is organized very well. It contains a list of terms, definitions, and necessities as well as formulas for determining how many blocks are needed for various size quilts. There are tips for various methods for piecing the blocks and for estimating yardage. There are also many quilt block and quilting patterns. The directions for assembling the quilt blocks are clear with very good illustrations (for those of us who are visual learners). I would recommend the book to anyone who enjoys quilting.
I have two copies of this book. I bought this one as a gift. It’s my favorite.
