Maker: Decanter - Made by Wade China. The Wade name has been associated with fine pottery since the 1800s. It began in 1810 with George Wade & Sons Ltd. Over the years other family members owned and operated potteries under various names. From this collection of potteries, the Wade companies joined together to become Wade Potteries Ltd in the 1950s. The business has gone through further name changes over the years. Today, Wade is mostly known for promotional items and the Wade Whimsies figurines.
Bell's Scotch Whisky - Founded by Arthur Bell in the early 1800s. He began his career as a Company Traveller for a Scottish wine and spirit merchant. He eventually went on to create his own whisky blends. The accepted practice at the time was to use young, immature whiskies for blending. However, Bell used only mature whiskies in a blend. This decision earned him a reputation not only as a specialist blender, but as a man of vision with the highest regard for quality.
In the early days Bell didn't put his name on a blend believing that the quality should speak for itself. After his sons joined the company, they convinced him that branding their product could only be good for business. In 1904 the first label appeared bearing the words "Arthur Bell & Sons Extra Special Old Scotch Whisky, Perth, Established 1825".
Circa: All decanters 1980s.
